DAILY: Vietnamese coffee prices decreased by 600 VND per kg on January 17, 2024

 Friday, January 17,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to Kinhtedothi, robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area, decreased by 600 VND per kg to 115,000–115,500 VND per kg on Friday compared to Yesterday.

Gia Nghia of Dak Nong provided the maximum price of VND115,500/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND115,000/kg. Robusta coffee decreased to VND115,000 per kg in Bao Loc, Di Linh, Lam Ha; to VND115,400-115,500 per kg in Dak Lak; to VND115,400-115,500 per kg in Dak Nong; to VND115,300 per kg in Kon Tum, and to VND115,300- 115,400 per kg in Gia Lai.
The price of Robusta coffee on the London market decreased by 23 USD/ton (for the March 2025 contract) to 4,889 USD/ton, while the price of Arabica coffee on the New York market also dropped by 3.3 cents/lb (for the March 2025 contract) to 327.15 cents/lb.
Expert Nguyen Quang Binh stated that the strong increase in coffee exports from Brazil impacted the price of Arabica coffee, which in turn led to a decrease in Robusta coffee prices. However, the price difference between the two types of coffee still presents a great opportunity for Robusta, especially as many coffee roasting companies are shifting to purchase more Robusta.
In 2024, Vietnam saw its coffee export prices reached the highest in the world for the first time, with Robusta prices surpassing Arabica prices. The average export price of coffee from Vietnam in December 2024 was estimated at 75,450 USD/ton, a slight decrease of 2.3% compared to November 2024 but a sharp increase of 88.8% compared to December 2023.
The Import-Export Department forecasts that Vietnam's coffee exports will continue to grow in 2025 due to increasing supply and rising global demand.
This information indicates that the coffee market is undergoing significant changes, especially for Robusta coffee, and Vietnam is capitalizing on this opportunity to boost exports and grow its coffee industry.
