 Monday, January 13,2025

AsemconnectVietnam - On Monday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.

Looking back at last week, domestic pepper prices decreased by an average of 1,000 - 2,500 VND/kg, with the Dak Lak - Dak Nong region seeing the largest drop. Currently, the domestic market is fluctuating around 147,000 VND/kg.
Last week, pepper prices had a brief 3-day increase at the beginning of the week, followed by a sharp decline over the next two trading days. Overall, the pepper market has not shown much improvement as funds have shifted towards coffee, and importing markets seem to have secured enough stock for Q1 2025.
Previously, pepper prices rose in the first week of the year by 2,000 - 3,000 VND/kg. According to members of the Vietnam Pepper Forum, they expect little price fluctuation from now until the Lunar New Year, with the market likely unable to surpass 150,000 VND/kg.
Demand from major markets, including the U.S., the European Union (EU), the Middle East, and China, has begun to increase, leading to a 1.53% price rise last month. Buyers anticipate that prices will drop in Q1 2025 to make purchasing decisions. This period also coincides with Vietnam’s pepper harvest season.
In total, Vietnam exported 250,600 tonnes of various types of pepper in 2024, including 220,269 tonnes of black pepper and 30,331 tonnes of white pepper. The total export value reached 1.38 billion USD, with black pepper accounting for 1.177 billion USD and white pepper 200.6 million USD. Compared to 2023, export volume decreased by 5.1%, but export value increased by 45.4%.
At the close of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at 6,841 USD/ton; Brazil ASTA 570 black pepper at 6,350 USD/ton; and Kuching (Malaysia) ASTA black pepper at 8,700 USD/ton. White Muntok pepper was priced at 8,953 USD/ton, and Malaysia ASTA white pepper at 11,100 USD/ton.
