Nam Long (NLG) and the 32-year journey of accompanying Vietnamese urban areas
Friday, January 10,2025AsemconnectVietnam - When announcing the "Nam Long Housing Program" in 1996, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang, founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nam Long Group (stock code NLG) did not imagine that it would be one of Nam Long's first declarations of the shape of a professional integrated real estate group as it is today.
On a day at the end of 1996, after 4 years of establishing Nam Long Company, the phrase "Nam Long Housing Program" was presented by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang to the authorities, the city's chief architect, the Deputy Minister of Construction, the press, and those who early supported the enterprise with a breakthrough idea to form a residential real estate market.
At that time, the Nam Long Housing Program expressed the enterprise's desire for a project with a systematic planning and synchronous utilities. Even the company's chairman did not think that it was one of the first declarations of the Company about the shape of a professional integrated real estate group as it is today.
The Nam Long housing program was realized quite quickly. In 1996, the An Lac project in Binh Chanh was born with a residential complex model, although it was rudimentary in the style of dividing land into plots and selling them. In 1998, the first rows of houses under the Nam Long housing program were successively built according to the urban complex thinking, including the Phu Thuan project, followed by the Tan Thuan Dong project in 2005, the Phuoc Long B residential area, An Thanh - Can Tho... Then, villa areas such as Thao Nguyen Saigon, Nam Phu... made a strong impression with residential complexes - ecology and outstanding amenities.
The idea of developing an integrated satellite urban area for Ho Chi Minh City was born in 2003 when Nam Long was determined to implement the project on a new scale, up to hundreds of hectares - something that Nam Long had never done before with the dream of "accompanying the development of Vietnamese urban areas".
To start implementing this urban area, Nam Long visited cities around the world, especially countries with development models very close to Vietnam such as Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines...
The first urban area, which is also the largest integrated urban area of Nam Long today, Waterpoint 355 hectares, has been laid with truly serious and professional foundation steps for more than 15 years. Nam Long invited the best people in the region at that time to cooperate with consulting partners around the world, organizing an international planning competition with the participation of international judges in scoring and voting.
As an architect and planner, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang believes that in order to develop a city with timeless value, ensuring the settlement of many generations, the city needs a sustainable living environment. Besides the inevitable financial factor, the most important thing is to do standard planning work. Then, there must be architects, developers, and consultants with vision and experience. That is also the reason why Nam Long has steadfastly built the foundation in the most methodical and professional way. Nam Long's investment in urban planning has brought "sweet fruit". The experience accumulated from the development of Waterpoint urban area has been "replicated" by Nam Long in other projects, including Izumi City (170 ha, Dong Nai), Mizuki Park (26 ha, Ho Chi Minh City), Nam Long Central Lake (43.8 ha, Can Tho), Nam Long Dai Phuoc (45 ha, Dong Nai) ...
Nam Long has also invited many independent members of the Board of Directors and the Board of General Directors with international experience in managing and developing large-scale real estate projects from the US, Malaysia, Singapore ... to orient Nam Long to apply new development models of the world, while developing a team of successors with core competencies and capabilities in urban development to be able to "make urban areas more professional and standard".
Not immediately building schools, hospitals ... like the strategy of some other investors, Nam Long chose to cooperate with "real professionals in their fields". Over the past year, Nam Long's commercial real estate and service development division has cooperated with Khai Sang Group (education), SanHa, Kingfoodmart (supermarket), Saigon MTV Hospital, professional F&B businesses such as Trung Nguyen, reputable local restaurants... to operate in integrated urban areas, serving the community of residents and people in the area.
Nam Long Urban Area has an advanced planning, separating walking lanes, bicycle lanes and regular traffic lanes. Nam Long Urban Area also has high-class facilities such as bus routes connecting the project with the city center, a club with a swimming pool, an outdoor sports area, and a cluster of international standard tennis courts. Nam Long Urban Area has also become a destination for local people to run, New Year's Eve fireworks or colorful festival activities.
