Vietnam’s imports from China hit record high of over 130 billion USD
Thursday, December 26,2024AsemconnectVietnam - After only 11 months of 2024, Vietnam's import turnover of goods from China has reached a record high of 130.51 billion USD.
According to preliminary statistics just released by the General Department of Customs, by the end of November, the total import turnover of goods nationwide reached 345.62 billion USD, an increase of 16.3% (equivalent to an increase of 48.62 billion USD) compared to the same period last year.
In terms of markets, Vietnam still imports the most goods from China. By the end of November, import turnover from this neighboring market reached 130.51 billion USD, a sharp increase of 30.1% (equivalent to an increase of 30.2 billion USD) compared to the same period last year, accounting for 38% of the total import turnover of the whole country.
Notably, the above result is also the largest import figure ever from the Chinese market. Because, last year, the import turnover from China only reached nearly 111 billion USD, and in 2022 it was only nearly 118 billion USD. Other major import markets included South Korea with 51.13 billion USD, up by 6.9% (equivalent to an increase of 3.3 billion USD) over the same period last year; ASEAN reached 42.46 billion USD, up by 14% (equivalent to an increase of 5.2 billion USD); Taiwan (China) reached 20.73 billion USD, up by 22.4% (equivalent to an increase of 3.79 billion USD); EU reached 15.23 billion USD, up by 11.8% (equivalent to an increase of 1.6 billion USD); and the United States reached 13.56 billion USD, up by 7.9% (equivalent to an increase of 994 million USD).
In addition to growth in most major markets, the import turnover from Japan saw decrease.
By the end of November, the country’s total import turnover from Japan reached 19.58 billion USD, down by 0.9% (equivalent to a decrease of 174 million USD) compared to the same period last year.
