Vietnam’s imports of raw materials for animal feed production in 11 months of 2024

Meanwhile, the country's wheat imports in the first 11 months of 2024 reached over 5.37 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly 1.48 billion USD, and soybean imports in the first 11 months of 2024 reached nearly 1.98 million tonnes, worth of nearly 1.02 billion USD Vietnam's corn imports in the first 11 months of 2024
According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, corn imports of all kinds in the first 11 months of 2024 reached over 11.11 million tonnes, worth of nearly 2.7 billion USD, with an average price of 242.7 USD/tonne, up by 32.9% in volume, up by 7% in turnover but down by 19.5% in price compared to the first 11 months of 2023.
In particular, in November of 2024 alone, it reached nearly 1.48 million tonnes, equivalent to 352.76 million USD, with an average price of 242.7 USD/tonne, down by 4.5% in volume and 2.2% in value compared to October of 2024 but the price increased by 2.4%. In comparison to November of 2023, it increased sharply by 133.8% in volume, 113.3% in value but decreased by 8.8% in price.
Major markets supplying corn to Vietnam in the first 11 months of 2024
Argentina was the largest market supplying corn to Vietnam in the first 11 months of 2024, accounting for 52.5% of the total volume and 51.8% of the total corn import turnover of the country, reaching over 5.83 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly 1.4 billion USD, with the price of 239.4 USD/tonne, up by 85.2% in volume, up by 48.8% in turnover but down by 19.7% in price compared to the first 11 months of 2023.
The second largest market was Brazil. In the first 11 months of 2024, the country’s imports of corn from Brazil reached nearly 4.15 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly 1.01 billion USD, the price was 242.5 USD/tonne, accounting for over 37.3% of the total volume and total corn import turnover of the country, up by 30.8% in volume, up by 5.6% in turnover and the price decreased by 19.3% compared to the first 11 months of 2023.
The next was the Lao market. In the first 11 months of 2024 reached 84,216 tonnes, equivalent to 20.83 million USD, the price was 247.3 USD/tonne, accounting for nearly 0.8% of the total volume and total import turnover of corn of the whole country, down by 0.06% in volume, down by 27.2% in turnover and the price was down by 27.2% compared to the same period last year.
Wheat imports in the first 11 months of 2024
In the first 11 months of 2024, the country's imported wheat volume reached over 5.37 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly 1.48 billion USD, an increase of 34.8% in volume and 8.3% in value compared to the first 11 months of 2023.
According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, in November of 2024, the country imported 354,992 tonnes of wheat, equivalent to 101.47 million USD, with an average price of 285.8 USD/tonne, down by 26.5% in volume and 20.9% in value compared to October of 2024, but the price increased by 7.6%. Compared to November 2023, it increased by 33.1% in volume, increased by 30.3% in value, but decreased by 2.2% in price.
In the first 11 months of 2024, the country's total wheat imports reached over 5.37 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly 1.48 billion USD, up by 34.8% in volume and 8.3% in value compared to the first 11 months of 2023, with an average price of 274.9 USD/tonne, down by 19.6%.
Vietnam's main wheat import markets in 11 months of 2024
Ukraine was the largest market supplying wheat to Vietnam in the first 11 months of 2024, accounting for 26.5% of the total volume and 24.6% of the total wheat import turnover of the country, reaching over 1.42 million tonnes, equivalent to 363.77 million USD, the average price was 255.5 USD/tonne, a sharp increase of 349.9% in volume, an increase of 312.6% in turnover but a decrease of 8.3% in price compared to the first 11 months of 2023.
In November 2024 alone, 49,306 tonnes were imported, equivalent to 12.57 million USD, the average price was 254.9 USD/tonne, a sharp decrease of over 80% in both volume and turnover compared to October of 2024 but the price increased slightly by 0.12%. Compared to November of 2023, there was also a sharp decrease of 72% in volume, 74.4% in turnover and 8.6% in price. The second largest market was Australia, accounting for 19.2% of the total volume and 21.3% of the total turnover, reaching 1.03 million tonnes, equivalent to over 314.76 million USD, with an average price of 305.6 USD/tonne, down sharply by 60.7% in volume, down by 64.8% in turnover and down by 10.5% in price compared to the first 11 months of 2023.
The next was the Brazilian market, reaching 1.17 million tonnes, equivalent to 293.14 million USD, at a price of 249.6 USD/tonne, accounting for 21.9% of the total volume and 19.9% of the total wheat import turnover of the country, up sharply by 348.9% in volume, up by 205.9% in turnover but down by 31.9% in price.
Wheat imports from the US market reached 481,740 tonnes, equivalent to 148.91 million USD, priced at 309 USD/tonne, up by 29.7% in volume, up by 5.2% in value but down by 18.9% in price compared to the first 11 months of 2023.
Soybean imports in 11 months of 2024
According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, soybean imports in the first 11 months of 2024 reached nearly 1.98 million tonnes, worth of nearly 1.02 billion USD, with an average price of 513.7 USD/tonne, up by 19.6% in volume, but down by 3% in value and down by 18.9% in price compared to the first 11 months of 2023.
Of which, in November of 2024 alone, it reached 163,416 tonnes, equivalent to 81.17 million USD, the average price was 496.7 USD/tonne, down by over 26% in both volume and value compared to October of 2024, but the price increased slightly by 0.7%. In comparison to November of 2023, it increased sharply by 268.7% in volume, increased by 175.3% in value but decreased by 25.3% in price.
Vietnam's main soybean import markets in 11 months of 2024
Brazil was the largest market supplying soybeans to Vietnam in the first 11 months of 2024, accounting for 54.3% of the total volume and 52.7% of the total soybean import turnover of the country, reaching 1.07 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly 535.76 million USD, priced at 498.7 USD/tonne, up by 20% in volume, up by 0.93% in turnover but down by 15.9% in price compared to the first 11 months of 2023.
The second largest market was the US. In the first 11 months of 2024, the country’s imports of soybean from the US reached 713,735 tonnes, equivalent to 370.03 million USD, priced at 518.5 USD/tonne, accounting for over 36% of the total volume and total soybean import turnover of the country, up by 23.5% in volume, but down by 5.6% in turnover and the price down by 23.6% compared to the first 11 months of 2023. The next was the Canadian market. In the first 11 months of 2024, the country’s imports of soybean from Canada reached 116,073 tonnes, equivalent to 68.88 million USD, the price was 593.4 USD/tonne, accounting for 5.9% of the total volume and 6.8% of the total soybean import turnover of the country, up by 17.8% in volume, but down by 5.2% in turnover and price down by 19.5% compared to the same period last year.
