Vietnam's Textile and Garment exports to the EU increased by 10.5% in the first 10 months of 2024
Tuesday, December 24,2024AsemconnectVietnam - According to calculations from Vietnam Customs' statistics, Vietnam's textile and garment exports to the EU in the first 10 months of 2024 grew by 10.61% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching over 3.5 billion USD.
Vietnam's total textile and garment exports to global markets in the first 10 months of 2024 surpassed 30.57 billion USD, up 10.5% compared to the same period in 2023, with exports to the EU accounting for 11.46% of the total export value. Vietnam has risen to the 6th position among the largest textile and garment exporters to the EU, following China, Bangladesh, Turkey, India, and Pakistan.
The EU is the largest textile and garment importing market in the world. As the EU economy begins to recover, improved purchasing power has driven the demand for imports, including Vietnam's textile and garment products. Vietnamese textile and garment exports to the EU are benefiting from several advantages compared to other exporting countries, thanks to the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), which is now in its fifth year of implementation.
Under the commitments of the EVFTA, 100% of Vietnam’s textile and garment products will enjoy a 0% tariff after a maximum of 7 years from the agreement's entry into force, providing a strong impetus for expanding market share in the EU. According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Belgium and the EU, since the EVFTA came into effect, Vietnam's share in total textile and garment imports into the EU from non-EU countries has increased from 3.3% (in 2020) to 4.3% (in 2023).
