Vietnam’s CPI in 11 months increased by 3.69%

AsemconnectVietnam - The increases in electricity prices, rental housing prices and housing maintenance materials were the main reasons for the consumer price index (CPI) in November 2024 to increase by 0.13% compared to the previous month.

According to the data just released by the General Statistics Office, compared to December of 2023, the CPI in November of 2024 increased by 2.65% and compared to the same period last year increased by 2.77%. On average, in the first 11 months of 2024, the CPI increased by 3.69% compared to the same period last year.
In the 0.13% increase in CPI in November 2024 compared to the previous month, there were 8 groups of goods and services with increased price indexes and 3 groups with decreased price indexes. The group of housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials increased the most with an increase of 0.87%.
On average, in the first 11 months of 2024, the country’s core inflation increased by 2.7% compared to the same period of 2023, lower than the average CPI increase (3.69%), mainly due to the prices of food, foodstuffs, electricity, education services, and medical services, which are factors affecting the increase in CPI but are excluded from the list of goods for calculating core inflation.
Solutions to promote domestic market development and stimulate consumption in the last months of the year have contributed to promoting the growth of the service industry. As a result, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue at current prices in November of 2024 was estimated at VND562 trillion, up by 8.8% over the same period last year.
In the first 11 months of 2024, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue increased by 8.8% over the same period last year, of which revenue from accommodation and food services increased by 13% and revenue from tourism and travel increased by 17.3%.
In which, the food and foodstuff group increased by 11.2%; revenue from accommodation and food services increased by 12.9%; revenue from tourism and travel increased by 12.5% due to the high number of international visitors to Vietnam and Vietnamese tourists traveling abroad compared to the same period last year.
The retail sales of goods in the first 11 months of 2024 were estimated at VND4,487.3 trillion, accounting for 77.1% of the total and increasing by 8.1% over the same period last year.
Of which, the group of food and foodstuffs increased by 10.8%; household appliances, tools and equipment increased by 5.9%; garments increased by 8.1%; means of transport (excluding cars) increased by 7.4%; cultural and educational items increased by 5.6%.
Retail sales of goods in the first 11 months of 2024 compared to the same period last year in some localities were as follows: Hai Phong increased by 9.5%; Quang Ninh increased by 9.3%; Da Nang increased by 7.4%; Hanoi increased by 6.5%; Ho Chi Minh City increased by 5.2%.
