Pepper export to Hong Kong (China) market increased sharply
Tuesday, December 10,2024AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 11 months of 2024, pepper export to Hong Kong (China) market reached 3,933 tonnes, a sharp increase compared to 129 tonnes in the same period last year.
According to data recently released by Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, in November 2024, Vietnam exported 15,948 tonnes of pepper. Out of which, black pepper reached 13,606 tonnes and white pepper reached 2,342 tonnes. Total pepper export turnover reached 106.5 million USD, of which black pepper reached 87.5 million USD and white pepper reached 19.0 million USD. Compared to October, export volume decreased by 13.8% and compared to the same period in 2023, export decreased by 21.4%.
Average export price of black pepper in November reached 6,513 USD/tonne, white pepper reached 8,286 USD/tonne, up 229 USD for black pepper and 57 USD for white pepper respectively compared to October 2024. Olam was still the largest exporter in November with 2,089 tons, compared to the previous month, export decreased by 19.5%.
Pepper exports to the US market still accounted for the largest proportion, accounting for 31.9%, reaching 5,089 tonnes. Followed by UAE market with 927 tonnes, Hong Kong (China) with 895 tonnes, the Netherlands with 760 tonnes and South Korea with 600 tonnes.
In general, in the first 11 months of 2024, pepper export reached 235,335 tonnes with a total export turnover of 1.2176 billion USD, of which black pepper reached 1.361 billion USD and white pepper reached 181.5 million USD. Compared to the same period in 2023, export volume decreased by 3.5%, however, export turnover increased by 46.9%. The average export price of black pepper in 11 months reached 5,073 USD/tonne, up 47.3% and white pepper reached 6,772 USD/tonne, up 36.7% over the same period last year. The United States is the largest export market for Vietnamese pepper, reaching 67,802 tonnes, up 41.1% and accounting for 28.8% of total export volume of Vietnamese pepper. Next are the UAE markets reaching 15,495 tonnes, up 42.7%, accounting for 6.6%; Germany reaching 14,170 tonnes, up 67.7%, accounting for 6.0%; pepper exports also increased in the Netherlands market (41.8%); South Korea increased by 34.8%; Pakistan increased by 34.5%; Canada increased by 19.7%; Russia increased by 15.5%, the UK increased by 14.0%... In particular, pepper export to Hong Kong (China) in the first 11 months of 2024 reached 3,933 tonnes compared to 129 tonnes in the same period last year. China was the 6th largest export market for Vietnamese pepper in the first 11 months of 2024, reaching 9,661 tonnes, down 83.6% compared to the same period in 2023.
The leading exporters of Vietnamese pepper in the first 11 months of 2024 included Olam Vietnam with 25,249 tonnes, up 44.9%; Phuc Sinh with 21,287 tonnes, up 49.4%; Nedspice Vietnam with 18,887 tonnes, up 7.9%; Haprosimex JSC with 17,097 tonnes, up 70.6% and Tran Chau with 15,256 tonnes, up 0.8%.
