With many improvements in applying ESG (Environment - Society - Governance) initiatives to production and business activities in 2024, Sabeco continues to be honored in the Top sustainable development enterprises in Vietnam.
Continuous efforts to improve and develop
The ranking was announced by the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) on November 29 through the Program for Assessment and Announcement of Sustainable Enterprises in Vietnam (CSI100).
Sabeco's continued recognition in this list is not only a recognition of its continuous efforts in the journey of sustainable development but also reflects the company's continuous efforts to improve and develop. This result is also a testament to Sabeco's strong commitment to creating long-term benefits for businesses and partners, while making an important contribution to the overall development of the country.
CSI100 was developed with expert advice from the Central Economic Commission, the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. This is considered a comprehensive and detailed criteria system, helping to comprehensively assess the operations of businesses in the direction of sustainable development. In 2024, the CSI100 program with a structure of 6 parts will be expanded to 153 indicators, an increase of 23 indicators compared to 2023 with the main changes focusing on the environmental field.
Sabeco has made strong strides in implementing its environmental action commitments in 2024, joining the Vietnam Packaging Recycling Alliance (PRO Vietnam) last August, affirming its determination to promote the implementation of extended producer responsibility, promote the company's sustainable development goals and contribute to the country's green growth goals. Over the years, with the goal of minimizing environmental impacts and aiming to achieve net emissions by 2050, Sabeco has always focused on solutions to optimize raw materials and energy in production such as using recycled packaging, recovering and reusing water, installing rooftop solar power... Statistics show that in 2024, Sabeco successfully reduced the amount of water produced to 2.6 liters/liter of beer compared to 3 liters in 2022, and total greenhouse gas emissions to 7.76 kg CO2e/hl compared to 9.18 kgCO2e/hl in 2022. In particular, electricity from solar energy has doubled in the past 2 years when 12 out of 26 factories were installed with rooftop solar power. These initiatives not only improve production efficiency but also contribute to building a sustainable future where resources are used optimally and business activities are always associated with environmental protection responsibilities.
Promoting ESG for a stronger Vietnam
Towards the vision of creating long-term sustainable value for businesses and the Vietnamese community, Sabeco has implemented many ESG initiatives in its production and business activities in recent years. Sabeco's ESG efforts focus on three main areas: Responding to climate change, Enhancing the capacity of employees and communities, Cooperating with stakeholders to create positive impacts, all of which contribute to the socio-economic progress and sustainable future of Vietnam.
With a commitment to responding to climate change and always striving to minimize environmental impacts during the production process, Sabeco has installed rooftop solar power at factories in the system, replaced fossil fuel boilers with biomass fuel from natural sources, helping to significantly reduce carbon emissions, sustainable packaging initiatives and CIP wastewater treatment systems have also been applied, reinforcing environmental responsibility and contributing to the country's green goals. Sabeco constantly improves the capacity of employees and the community, aiming at economic, social and environmental development through programs to enhance the competitiveness of national athletes, young businesses in rural areas... Recently, the inauguration of the Sabeco SRC Beer Industry Research and Development Center also plays an important role in nurturing Sabeco's brewing experts, while attracting young personnel to continue training the next generation of young talents, bringing positive impacts to the company and Vietnamese brand products.
With the focus on "Cooperating with all parties to create positive impacts", Sabeco constantly strengthens partnerships to build a balanced and active lifestyle, ensuring compliance with the law and business ethics throughout the system, together creating far-reaching positive impacts from within to outside the company. In particular, the initiative "Sabeco Sports Hub - Connecting Vietnamese Spirit" taking place in 36 provinces and cities across the country is the result of successful coordination between Sabeco and the Central Youth Union, not only aiming to promote a balanced and active lifestyle, but also opening up a playground for the community to connect through sports activities, cultural and culinary exchanges, to contribute to local development.
