According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, in the first 10 months of 2024, the country exported over 1.44 million tonnes of fertilizers of all kinds, equivalent to nearly 590.54 million USD, with an average price of 409.9 USD/tonne, up by 10.9% in volume, up by 9.36% in turnover but down slightly by 1.4% in price compared to the same period of 2023.
In October of 2024 alone, 147,489 tonnes of fertilizers of all kinds were exported, reaching 59.81 million USD, with a price of 405.6 USD/tonne, up by 15.5% in volume, up by 15.4% in turnover but down by 0.15% in price compared to September of 2024. In comparison to October of 2023, it also increased by 38% in volume, increased by 22.8% in turnover but decreased by 11% in price.
Vietnam's fertilizer exports were mainly to the Cambodian market, which alone accounted for 33.2% of the total volume and 33.4% of the total fertilizer export turnover of the country, reaching 478,564 tonnes, equivalent to 197.37 million USD, with an average price of 412.4 USD/tonne, up by 2.27% in volume, down by 0.32% in turnover and down by 2.5% in price compared to the same period of 2023. In October of 2024 alone, the exports to this market reached 59,699 tonnes, equivalent to 23.19 million USD, with an average price of 388.4 USD/tonne, up by 18.2% in volume, up by 10% in turnover, but down by 6.9% in price compared to September of 2024. Following the main market of Cambodia was the South Korean market with 164,334 tonnes, equivalent to nearly 66.85 million USD, the average price was 406.8 USD/tonne, a sharp increase of 174.5% in volume, 192.7% in turnover and 6.6% in price, accounting for over 11% of the total volume and total export turnover of fertilizers of the whole country.
The exports to the Malaysian market reached 95,763 tonnes, equivalent to 36.51 million USD, the average price was 381.3 USD/tonne, an increase of 17.6% in volume, 32.4% in turnover and 12.5% in price, accounting for 6.7% of the total volume and 6.2% of the total turnover.

In comparison to October of 2023, it increased by 25.2% in volume, increased by 12% in turnover but decreased by 10.5% in price. In general, in the first 10 months of 2024, the country's imported fertilizer volume reached over 4.35 million tonnes, worth of over 1.43 billion USD, the average price reached 329.2 USD/tonne, up by 31.1% in volume, up by 27.1% in turnover but decreased by 3.1% in price compared to the same period of 2023. China was still the leading fertilizer supplier to Vietnam, accounting for 42.5% of the total volume and 41% of the total fertilizer import turnover of the country, reaching nearly 1.85 million tonnes, equivalent to 588.2 million USD, the average price was 318.5 USD/tonne, up by 12.9% in both volume and turnover compared to the same period of 2023 and slight increase of 0.03% in price. The Russian market ranked second, accounting for 11.6% of the total volume and 14.6% of the total turnover, with 502,820 tonnes, equivalent to 209.52 million USD, the average price was 416.7 USD/tonne, up by 151% in volume, up by 3 in turnover but down by 112% in price compared to the same period of 2023.
Fertilizer imports from the Lao market reached 291,491 tonnes, equivalent to 75.47 million USD, up by 17.6% in volume, but down by 9.3% in turnover compared to the same period of2023, accounting for 6.7% of the total volume and 5.3% of the total fertilizer import turnover of the country,
In general, in the first 10 months of 2024, fertilizer imports from most markets increased compared to the same period of 2023.
