AsemconnectVietnam - The sharp increase in pepper export prices has helped this industry enter the group of export commodities reaching billion-dollar turnover in the first 10 months of 2024.

According to the latest statistics from the General Department of Customs, in October, the whole country exported 18,415 tonnes of pepper, with a total turnover of 120.57 million USD, up by 7.7% in volume and 9.1% in turnover compared to the previous month.
Notably, although the amount of pepper exported decreased by 3% compared to the same period of 2023, the turnover increased by 47%, bringing this group of goods into the "billion-dollar export club".
Specifically, in 10 months, the whole country exported 218,732 tonnes of pepper, with a turnover of 1.11 billion USD.
The decrease in volume and high turnover show that the average export value of this group of goods has increased sharply compared to the same period last year.
Accordingly, the average export value in the past 10 months reached 5,077 USD/tonne, an increase of 1,726 USD/tonne compared to the same period last year (equivalent to an increase of 51.5%).
The United States was the largest export market with 64,112 tonnes and the turnover reached 337.79 million USD, accounted for 29.31% in volume and 30.43% in export turnover of domestic pepper in the past 10 months.
Other important export markets included the UAE, Germany, India, the Netherlands, China, etc.
