DAILY: Vietnamese coffee prices rose by 1500 VND on November 11, 2024
Tuesday, November 12,2024AsemconnectVietnam - On Tuesday, robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area, increased by 1500 VND to 108,000– 108,600VND per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.
Gia Nghia of Dak Nong provided the maximum price of VND108,600/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND108,000/kg. Robusta coffee rose to VND108,000 per kg in Bao Loc, Di Linh, Lam Ha; to VND106,900-107,000 per kg in Dak Lak; to VND108,400-108,500per kg in Dak Nong; to VND108,500 per kg in Kon Tum, and to VND108,400-108,500 per kg in Gia Lai.
At the end of the most recent trading session, the price of Robusta coffee in London for January 2025 delivery increased by 100 USD/ton, at 4,476 USD/ton, and for March 2025 delivery increased by 94 USD/ton, at 4,412 USD/ton.
On the New York floor, the price of Arabica coffee for December 2024 delivery increased by 2.85 cents/lb, at 256.2 cents/lb, and for March 2025 delivery by 2.75 cents/lb, at 255.85 cents/lb.
Coffee prices on both floors increased simultaneously in the first session of the week. Expert Nguyen Quang Binh commented that there was no rain in Brazil and Vietnam's export figures in October 2024 decreased, causing concern for the market.
Coffee export volume in the first 10 months of 2024 decreased by 10.8%. According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA), the coffee acreage is increasingly shrinking due to low coffee prices in previous years, affecting people's income, so people have switched to other crops. It is very difficult to increase the acreage and increase coffee output in the coming time.
Domestically, localities are entering the coffee harvest season of the 2024 - 2025 crop, expected to last from November 2024 to January 2025. At the same time, it is forecasted that many provinces in the Central Highlands will experience dangerous weather phenomena such as tropical depressions, heavy rain, thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, and hail.
According to initial records, coffee output in the Dak Lak - Dak Nong region is forecast to decrease. According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Nong province, due to the impact of drought, the average coffee yield in the province in 2024 is estimated to reach 26.2 quintals/ha, down 1.51 quintals/ha compared to 2023. Meanwhile, the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Association forecasts that the coffee output in the 2024/25 crop in Dak Lak may decrease by 5-10% compared to the previous crop. The reason is that thousands of hectares of coffee have suffered from drought and water shortages in the dry season of 2024, affecting the growth of the trees.
