Vietnam's key export items in first 9 months of 2024
Tuesday, October 29,2024AsemconnectVietnam - According to calculations from preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs, in the first 9 months of this year, the export of computers, electronics and components was Vietnam's leading export item, accounting for 17.6% of the country's total export turnover.
Second place was phones of all kinds and components, accounting for 14% of the country's total export turnover of goods.

In the first 9 months of 2024, the export of electronic computers and components reached over 52.75 billion USD, an increase of 27.4%.
According to calculations from preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs, in the first 9 months of 2024, computers, electronics and components were the commodity group with the largest export turnover among the country's export commodity groups, reaching over 52.75 billion USD, an increase of 27.4% over the same period of 2023. In September of 2024 alone, the country’s exports of computers, electronics and components reached over 6.36 billion USD, down by 5.8% compared to August of 2024 but up by 16.2% compared to September of 2023.
The group of electronic computers and components accounted for 17.6% of the total export turnover of all kinds of goods in the country.

The main markets importing electronic computers and components from Vietnam in the first 9 months of 2024 include: The US market reached nearly 17.32 billion USD, a sharp increase of 46.5% over the same period in 2023 and accounting for 32.8% of the total export turnover of this group of goods of the whole country; China reached nearly 9.1 billion USD, accounting for 17.2%, down by 8.9% over the same period of 2023; Hong Kong reached 6.13 billion USD (accounting for 11.6%, down by 68.7%); while the exports to South Korea reached over 4.03 billion USD (accounting for 7.6%, up by 13%)
In general, exports of electronic computers and components to most markets in the first 9 months of 2024 increased in turnover compared to the same period of 2023.
Exports of all kinds of phones and components in September and the first 9 months of 2024
According to preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs, in the first 9 months of 2024, the export turnover of all kinds of phones and components nationwide reached over 41.89 billion USD, up by 7.2% over the same period of 2023.
This was the second largest group in terms of turnover among Vietnam's export groups (after the group of electronic computers and components), accounting for 14% of the total export turnover of goods nationwide.
In September of 2024 alone, exports of phones and components reached nearly 4.62 billion USD, down by 1.7% compared to August of 2024 and down by 8.3% compared to September of 2023.
Vietnam's main export markets for phones of all kinds and components in September and the first 9 months of 2024
Vietnam exported the most phones and components to the Chinese market in the first 9 months of 2024, reaching nearly 10.86 billion USD, down by 1.4% compared to the same period in 2023, accounting for 25.9% of the total export turnover of phones and components of all kinds of the country. In September of 2024 alone, the country’s exports of phones and components to the Chinese market reached over 1.88 billion USD, up by 19.4% compared to August of 2024 but down by 6.3% compared to September of 2023.
The second largest market was the US, reaching over 8.02 billion USD, up by 28.8%, accounting for 19.2%. In September of 2024 alone, it decreased by 14.7% compared to August of 2024 but increased by 21.5% compared to September of 2023, reaching 706.53 million USD.
The next was the South Korean market with over 2.69 billion USD, accounting for 6.4%, down by 0.6% compared to the same period of 2023, while the exports to the UAE market reached over 2.54 billion USD, up sharply by 56.9%; and to the Indian market reached 1.42 billion USD, up by 82.3%.
In general, Vietnam’s exports of phones and components to most key markets in the first 9 months of 2024 increased in turnover compared to the same period of 2023.
