Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports near 6 billion USD mark
Wednesday, October 23,2024AsemconnectVietnam - According to preliminary statistics recently released by the General Department of Customs, in the first half of October (October 1-15), fruit and vegetable exports earned 296 million USD.
Compared to the second half of September of 2024, fruit and vegetable export turnover decreased sharply (down by 204 million USD).
In general, from the beginning of the year to September 15, fruit and vegetable exports brought in 5.94 billion USD, an increase of 1.12 billion USD over the same period last year.
The most important contributor to fruit and vegetable export results was still durian. By the end of September, durian contributed over 2.5 billion USD in turnover.
Other fruits such as bananas, mangoes, dragon fruit, etc. also contributed millions of USD/item.
Another positive signal for fruit and vegetable exports was that in mid-October, official shipments of fresh coconuts exported to China by road were carried out through the border gates of Lao Cai and Lang Son.
Expanding the number of agricultural products officially exported to China is an important condition for this industry to increase its turnover, especially for fruits and vegetables.
China is currently the largest export market for fruits and vegetables of Vietnam.
According to the General Department of Customs, by the end of September, fruit and vegetable exports to this market reached 3.79 billion USD, a sharp increase of 37.82% over the same period last year and accounting for 67.2% of the total fruit and vegetable export turnover of the country.
With the results achieved in the past 9.5 months, the expectation that fruit and vegetable exports will set a new record of 7 billion USD in 2024 is completely feasible.
