Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in the first 9 months of 2024, total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached 46.28 billion USD, an increase of 21%; imports reached 32.42 billion USD, an increase of 7.5%. Trade surplus of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached 13.86 billion USD, an increase of 71.2%.
In September, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports reached 5.85 billion USD, up 31% compared to September 2023; of which, main agricultural products exported 3.41 billion USD (up 50.9%), forestry products 1.33 billion USD (up 11%), aquatic products 920 million USD (up 13.4%), livestock 46.1 million USD (up 19.1%). In the first 9 months, most commodity groups increased, so export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products increased and reached 46.28 billion USD, up 21%. Contributing to this result were: agricultural products reached 24.85 billion USD, up 27.7%; forestry products reached 12.46 billion USD, up 20.3%; aquatic products reached 7.23 billion USD, up 9.5%; livestock reached 376 million USD, up 3.8%...
Export turnover of the industry's key products were all higher than the same period last year, such as: wood and wood products 11.66 billion USD, up 21.3%; coffee 4.37 billion USD, up 39.6% while export volume decreased by 10.5%; rice 4.37 billion USD, up 23.5% with volume of 7.01 million tonnes, up 9.2%; cashew nuts 3.17 billion USD, up 22.5%; vegetables and fruits 5.87 billion USD, up 39.4%; shrimp 2.79 billion USD, up 10.5%; tra fish 1.36 billion USD, up 7.8%; pepper 1 billion USD, up 46.9%.
Average export price of coffee increased the most, by 56% and reached 3,897 USD/tonne; second was pepper, up 49.2% and reached 4,941 USD/tonn; followed by rubber, up 19%, rice up 13.1%...
Export value to all markets increased: Asia increased by 17.4%; America increased by 26.1%; Europe increased by 34.6%; Oceania increased by 16.1%; Africa decreased by 0.3%. The US, China and Japan continued to be the 3 largest export markets; of which, the US accounted for the highest proportion at 21.6%; followed by China at 20.8% and Japan at 6.6%.
In the country, although there were fluctuations in some commodities, they remained stable. Rice and vegetable prices in some localities fluctuated and increased locally due to the impact of storm No.3; pork prices tended to increase at the end of September in all three regions; pangasius prices increased slightly (from 150 VND - 300 VND/kg); whiteleg shrimp prices remained stable compared to the previous month, maintained at 83,000 VND/kg.
To promote exports, localities have established and granted 7,639 growing area codes in 56 provinces and 1,557 packaging facility codes that are allowed to export to markets such as China, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Korea, Japan, EU, etc. This also contributes to orienting production according to market demand, enhancing reputation of Vietnamese agricultural products.
Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that functional units continue to develop domestic consumption and export markets. In particular, handling market issues to facilitate export of agricultural and aquatic products; implementing projects to promote export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products to markets such as China, the US, Japan, EU, etc.
