Vietnam - Greece trade exchange in September and 9 months of 2024

AsemconnectVietnam - Although the two-way trade exchange between Vietnam and Greece is still modest compared to other EU member states, after the EVFTA took effect, the scale of trade in goods between Vietnam and Greece has continuously grown and Vietnam has continuously achieved a surplus in trade exchange with Greece, although the world in this period faced many economic challenges.
According to Vietnam customs statistics, in the first 9 months of 2024, the two-way trade exchange between Greece and Vietnam reached 382 million USD. Of which, Greece's exports to Vietnam reached 84 million USD, up by nearly 29% over the same period of 2023, and Greece's imports from Vietnam reached nearly 298 million USD, up slightly by 1.7% over the same period of 2023.
According to Vietnam Customs statistics, in the first 9 months of 2024, Greece's total import turnover from Vietnam reached nearly 298 million USD, up slightly by 1.7% over the same period of 2023.
In September of 2024 alone, Greece's imports from Vietnam reached 24 million USD, down by 22.6% over July of 2024 and down by 2% over September of 2023.
Phones of all kinds and components topped the list of key commodity groups imported by Greece from Vietnam in the first 9 months of 2024 with a turnover of 74.4 million USD, accounting for 30% of the total import value of goods from Greece from Vietnam and down by 31.8% compared to the same period of 2023.
In September of 2024 alone, Greece’s imports of phones of all kinds and components from Vietnam reached a turnover of 6.8 million USD, up by 30% compared to August of 2024 but down by 18% compared to September of 2023.
Coffee ranked second in the list of key commodities imported by Greece from Vietnam in the first 9 months of 2024 with a turnover value of 25.7 million USD, accounting for 10% of the total value of goods imported by Greece from Vietnam in the first 9 months of 2024 and a sharp increase of 72.4% over the same period last year.
Ranked third was the group of means of transport and spare parts with a turnover value in the first 9 months of 2024 reaching 22.7 million USD, an increase of 16.4% over the same period of 2023.
In the first 9 months of 2024, Greece's cashew nut imports from Vietnam reached 21.8 million USD, an increase of 29.7% over the same period of 2023.
In the first 9 months of 2024, Vietnam achieved a surplus of 214 million USD in trade with the Greek market. In 2023, Greece's total import turnover of goods from Vietnam reached 55 million USD, while Greece's export of goods to Vietnam reached 382 million USD. In 2023, Vietnam achieved a surplus of 327 million USD in trade in goods with Greece. In 2023, Vietnam's trade surplus with Greece increased by 77% compared to 2020, when the EVFTA had not been implemented.
