Items imported from the EU in 8 months of 2024

AsemconnectVietnam - According to preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs, goods imported from the EU into Vietnam have reached over 10.81 billion USD in 8 months of 2024, up 11.04% year on year.
Imports of goods from the EU market account for 4.38% of the total import turnover of goods from all markets in the world. In the first 8 months of 2024, there are 3 groups of goods imported from the EU with a turnover of over 1 billion USD, namely: Computers, electronic products and components; Machinery, equipment, instruments, spare parts and Pharmaceuticals.
The largest group of imports from the EU in the past 8 months were computers, electronic products and components reaching over 2.42 billion USD, accounting for 22.42% of the total import turnover of goods of all kinds from this market, up 27.8% compared to the first 8 months of 2023.
The group of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts imported from the EU ranked 2nd in terms of turnover reaching over 1.94 billion USD, accounting for 17.96% of the total turnover, up 3.91%. Next, the pharmaceutical group reached over 1.46 billion USD, accounting for 13.53% of the total turnover, up 28.71%.
Most goods imported from the EU in the first 8 months of this year increased in turnover compared to the first 8 months of 2023, of which some commodity groups increased sharply such as: Computers, electronic products and components increased by 27.38% to 2.42 billion USD; pharmaceuticals increased by 28.71% to over 1.46 billion USD; Other means of transport and spare parts increased by 31.81% to over 158 million USD.
Some products, although the turnover is low, increased significantly compared to the same period in 2023 such as: fertilizers of all kinds with a turnover of only 35 million USD but increased by 51.53%, accounting for a very small proportion of 0.33%; Glass and glass products reached 17 million USD but also increased by 29.29%, accounting for 0.16%.
In contrast, the groups of export goods decreased sharply including: Cars of all kinds decreased by 84.84% to only nearly 13.5 million USD; Animal feed and raw materials decreased by 51.72% tog 100 million USD; Ores and other minerals decreased by 38.87% to 4.53 million USD; Paper products decreased by 37.75% to 2 million USD.
