Export of Vietnamese goods to the EU up 21.66% y-o-y in August 2024
Wednesday, October 9,2024AsemconnectVietnam - According to calculations from Vietnam Customs data, in August 2024, Vietnam's exports of goods to the EU reached 4.55 billion USD, up 21.66% compared to August 2023 but down 6% compared to July 2024.
Generally, in the first 8 months of 2024, Vietnam's export turnover to the EU reached over 34.14 billion USD, up 17.43% over the same period in 2023.
Most of the key export products increased turnover over the same period in 2023, there were 4 commodity groups reaching over 2 billion USD; of which, computers, electronic products and components led in terms of turnover, especially in August 2024 reached 868 million USD, up 8.96% compared to July 2024 and up 56.23% over the same period in 2023. Generally, the first 8 months of 2024 reached over 5.24 billion USD, accounting for 15.34% of the total export turnover of all kinds of goods to the EU, up 50.71% compared to the first 8 months of 2023.
The group of phones and components ranked 2nd in terms of turnover, reaching 475 million USD in August 2024, down 37.24% compared to July 2024 and down 32.4% compared to August 2023. Generally, the first 8 months of 2024, turnover reached over USD4.65 billion, accounting for 13.6% but a slight decrease over the same period in 2023. Next was the group of machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts in 3rd place, in August 2024, this group of goods reached 612 million USD, up 31.97% compared to August 2023 but down 8.56% compared to July 2024. Generally, the first 8 months of 2024, turnover reached over 4.4 billion USD, up 26.91% over the same period in 2023, accounting for 12.91%.
The group of footwear of all kinds in August reached 428 million USD, down 9.93% compared to July 2024 and up nearly 30% over the same period last year. Generally, in the first 8 months of 2024, it reached over 3.59 billion USD, accounting for 10.52%, up 14.4% over the same period in 2023.
Notably, although the export turnover was not high, compared to the same period last year, it increased sharply such as:Cameras, camcorders and components (up 75.96% to 291 million USD); Raw plastics (up 41.25% to 187 million ; Chemical products (up 60.5% , reaching 16.35 million USD); Interior products from materials other than wood (up 47.78%, reaching 18.05 million USD); Pepper (up 95.14%, reaching 154 million USD).
On the contrary, there were a number of commodity groups with a sharp decrease in turnover over the same period in 2023 such as: Toys, sports equipment and parts (down 26.36% to 3.17 million USD), Paper and paper products (down 37.85% to 1.7 million USD); rice (down 17.17% to 17 million USD).
