Information from General Department of Customs said that total import-export value of Vietnam's goods in the first period of September 2024 (from September 1 to September 15, 2024) reached 28.55 billion USD, a decrease of 24.9% (equivalent to a decrease of 9.47 billion USD) compared to results in the second half of August 2024.
The results achieved in the first half of September 2024 brought total import-export value of the whole country up to September 15, 2024 to 540.72 billion USD, an increase of 15.9%, equivalent to an increase of 74.26 billion USD in absolute terms compared to the same period in 2023.
Of which, total import-export value of enterprises with foreign direct investment (FDI) reached 366.69 billion USD, an increase of 14.4% (equivalent to an increase of 46.17 billion USD).
In the first period of September 2024, trade balance of goods had a deficit of 546 million USD. From the beginning of the year to September 15, 2024, trade balance of goods had a surplus of 18.04 billion USD.
Accordingly, in terms of exports, total value of Vietnam's exported goods in the first period of September 2024 reached 14 billion USD, down 32.5% (equivalent to a decrease of 6.73 billion USD in absolute terms) compared to the second period of August 2024. Export value in the first period of September 2024 decreased compared to the second period of August 2024 in the following commodity groups: Computers, electronic products and components decreased by 1.17 billion USD, equivalent to a decrease of 31.2%; phones of all kinds and components decreased by 582 million USD, equivalent to a decrease of 23.5%; machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts decreased by 494 million USD, equivalent to a decrease of 18.4%...
Thus, by the end of September 15, 2024, Vietnam's total export value reached 279.38 billion USD, an increase of 14.8%, equivalent to an increase of 35.98 billion USD compared to the same period in 2023...
Statistics of General Department of Customs also show that export value of goods of enterprises with foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first period of September 2024 reached 10.14 billion USD, a decrease of 30.6%, equivalent to a decrease of 4.46 billion USD compared to the second period of August 2024. By the end of September 15, 2024, total export value of goods of this group of enterprises reached 200.18 billion USD, an increase of 12.9%, equivalent to an increase of 22.93 billion USD over the same period last year, accounting for 72% of total export value of the whole country. Regarding imports, total value of imported goods of Vietnam in the first period of September 2024 reached 14.55 billion USD, down 15.8% (equivalent to a decrease of 2.74 billion USD in absolute terms) compared to the results in the second half of August 2024...Thus, by the end of September 15, 2024, total import value of the whole country reached 261.34 billion USD, up 17.2% (equivalent to an increase of 38.28 billion USD) compared to the same period in 2023. Import value of goods of FDI enterprises in this period reached 9.59 billion USD, down 12.4% (equivalent to a decrease of 1.36 billion USD) compared to the second period of August 2024. As of September 15, 2024, total import value of this group of enterprises reached 166.51 billion USD, an increase of 16.2% (equivalent to an increase of 23.25 billion USD) over the same period in 2023, accounting for 63.7% of total import value of the whole country.
