AsemconnectVietnam - On Tuesday, robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area, fell by 500 VND to 123,000–123,500 VND per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.

Gia Nghia of Dak Nong provided the maximum price of VND123,500/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND123,000/kg. Robusta coffee decreased to 123,000VND per kg in Bao Loc, Di Linh, Lam Ha; to 123,400-123,500VND per kg in Dak Lak; to 123,400-123,500VND per kg in Dak Nong; to 123,400VND per kg in Kon Tum, and to 123,300-123,400VND per kg in Gia Lai.
According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa), Vietnam exported 1.05 million tonnes of coffee in the first 8 months of 2024, including 885,000 tonnes of Robusta and 45,000 tonns of Arabica. Export turnover reached nearly 4.04 billion USD, down 12.5% in volume but up 36.4% in turnover compared to the same period in 2023.
The EU's anti-deforestation regulations, which will be implemented from the end of 2024, may affect the supply of coffee to this market, so many importers have increased their reserves in recent times.
In about a month later, Son La will enter the coffee harvest season. At this time, factories are urgently maintaining, repairing, and upgrading processing lines; farmers in specialized areas are focusing on preparing the necessary conditions for coffee harvesting.
According to the Son La Coffee Association, due to the impact of the El Nino weather phenomenon, Son La's coffee output this year has decreased, but the price is good. The world market demand, especially in the EU, US, and Japan for high-quality Arabica coffee and specialty coffee are very high, always in a state of supply not meeting demand.
The coffee market for the 2024 - 2025 crop year is forecast to have a positive signals in terms of prices, huge customers from Europe, America, the Middle East and Japan have shown interest in Son La coffee. In addition, in recent years, the rate of increase in domestic Arabica coffee consumption has been growing at double digits, showing that the Arabica coffee market is expanding both domestically and for export.
