Sugar import tariff quotas in 2024 allocated by auction

The Council for Allocation of Sugar Import Tariff Quotas in 2024 by auction has announced the organization of the allocation of sugar import tariff quotas for relevant traders, organizations and individuals to implement.
Traders directly using sugar as raw materials for production and traders using raw sugar to produce refined sugar are proposed to allocate sugar import tariff quotas by auction (according to the provisions of Article 3 of Circular No. 11/2022/TT-BCT dated June 27, 2022 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade).
Accordingly, traders using raw sugar to produce refined sugar are only allowed to request the allocation of raw sugar import tariff quotas in 2024 by auction. Traders directly using sugar as raw material for production are only allowed to request the allocation of refined sugar import tariff quotas in 2024 by auction.
The amount of sugar import tariff quota (HS code 17.01) allocated in 2024 by auction is 126,000 tonnes.
The starting price is VND 2,100,000/tonne, the step price is VND 50,000/tonne, the deposit is (starting price x quantity of sugar registered for import tariff quota allocation) x 10%.
The time to organize the 2024 sugar import tariff quota allocation session by auction is September 20, 2024.
