 Tuesday, August 20,2024

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Corporation (PV Power, code POW) said that the Company is researching and investing in the construction of the first pilot electric vehicle charging station, aiming to expand its scale and business operations.

Recently, PV Power signed a Memorandum of Understanding with EN Technologies Inc. to research and develop a charging station system in Vietnam. After a period of research and evaluation, PV Power decided to build a pilot electric vehicle charging station at 6 Huynh Thuc Khang, Hanoi.
The DC fast charging station has a total capacity of 100 - 120 kW. The station area is about 30 - 35 m2. The total investment cost of the project is about VND1.8 billion.
The charging revenue is calculated based on the estimated charging output and the expected charging unit price is divided into 3 unit price levels according to the off-peak, normal and peak hours. In particular, the average charging price is expected to be around VND3,858/kWh, the price is equivalent to the charging station operated by Vinfast and lower than some other units such as EverCharge, EV One...
According to PV Power, the Government is encouraging and setting goals for the plan to convert from fossil fuel-powered motor vehicles to electric vehicles. The demand for electric cars of the people in the coming time will increase and move towards using 100% electric vehicles. Therefore, to ensure smooth traffic, ensuring the need for electric energy for charging is the first thing to do and in parallel with the increase in demand for electric vehicles.
In addition, when the infrastructure for electric vehicle charging stations is more developed, it will also open up opportunities for foreign electric vehicle companies to invest more boldly in Vietnam, promoting diversity, demand for use and moving towards the common goal of the Government.
PV Power determined that investing in and building charging stations for electric vehicles will open up new business opportunities for the company and be in line with PV Power's development strategy in the coming period. At the same time, building pilot charging stations is the first step to be taken towards further goals of expanding the number, location, and capacity nationwide.
