Processed and manufactured industrial products maintained leading position

AsemconnectVietnam - The processed and manufactured industrial product group has maintained its leading position in the country's total export turnover in recent times.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, following the recovery momentum from the end of 2023 and the first months of 2024, industrial production continues to show improvement and make positive contributions to the overall growth results of the whole economy.
Specifically, the export turnover of processed and manufactured industrial products in the first 7 months of 2024 reached nearly 192 billion USD, accounting for 84.6% of the total export turnover and increasing by 15.4% over the same period of 2023. Many product groups achieved high growth rates, including key export items, such as cameras, camcorders and components increased by 51.5%; computers, electronic products and components increased by 30%; plastic products increased by 29.9%; wood and wood products increased by 23.3%; iron and steel of all kinds increased by 9.8%; machinery, equipment, tools and other spare parts increased by 19%; textiles and garments increased by 4.3%; footwear of all kinds increased by 10.1%; phones of all kinds and components increased by 12.3%, etc.
With the above results, Mr. Pham Tuan Anh - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade) acknowledged that the processing and manufacturing industry has always been considered one of the key economic sectors, playing the role of a driving force for economic growth, promoting trade and export, especially some key processing and manufacturing industries, such as textiles, footwear, mechanics, electronics, supporting industries, etc.
Dr. Le Dang Doanh - economic expert also said that in the industrial sector, the processing and manufacturing industry contributes the highest value to GDP, creating the premise and foundation for the process of industrial development and modernization of the country. In recent years, if comparing the entire economy, in the industrial sector in general, the processing and manufacturing industry in particular has had the strongest breakthrough. The growth rate of added value of this industry is much higher than GDP growth in the past 5 years.
