DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices remained unchanged on July 30, 2024

AsemconnectVietnam - On Tuesday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at 149,000-150,000 VND per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.

The pepper market is waiting for new data from the summary meeting of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association tomorrow.
According to the assessment, sellers and buyers are accepting the current price. The market's offering price is commonly around VND150,000/kg.
At the end of the first trading session of the week, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at 7,153 USD/ton, up 0.04%; the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 at 6,850 USD/ton, down 1.46%; the price of Kuching black pepper (Malaysia) ASTA at 7,500 USD/ton. The price of Muntok white pepper was 8,765 USD/ton, down 3.86%; Malaysian ASTA white pepper was 8,800 USD/ton. Vietnamese black pepper prices traded at 6,000 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 6,600 USD/ton for 550 g/l; and 8,800 USD/ton for white pepper. At the beginning of the week, IPC sharply reduced the price of Brazilian black pepper, while Indonesia adjusted in the opposite direction.
In the second quarter of this year, the domestic and world pepper markets continued to increase due to low pepper production globally. From April to mid-June, the export price of black pepper from Indonesia and Brazil increased by 93.1% and 2.3 times, respectively, while Vietnam increased from 70% to 83%.
Domestically, in early April, pepper prices were around 92,000 - 94,000 VND/kg, reaching a peak of 180,000 VND/kg on June 12. Then, closing at the end of June, the market adjusted to the threshold of 150,000 - 160,000 VND/kg. Overall, in the second quarter of 2024, pepper prices increased by about 90% compared to the beginning of the year and 2.3 times higher than the same period last year.
