DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices remained unchanged on July 16, 2024

AsemconnectVietnam - On Tuesday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at 150,000-151,000VND per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.

In the first 6 months of 2024, Vietnam has exported over 141,392  tonnes of pepper, valued at more than 629,8  million USD, up 30,36% in value over the same period last year. In only June, Vietnam exported over 28,088  tonnes of pepper, valued at 142  million USD, up 32,27% in volume and 85,13% in value over the same period last year. The average export pepper price reached 4.914,64 USD/tấn in June, down 0,35% month on month,  but up 22,52% year on year.
The US was the largest importer of the Vietnamese pepper in the 6 months with 37,252 tonnes, valued at 170 millions USD, up 44% in volume and up 65,42%  year on year, accounting for 26.3% of the market share.
Exports also skyrocketed in some markets such as Italy, Germany, and Russia.
Vietnam has promoted pepper export to many traditional markets such as the US, India, Germany, and the Netherlands. Export to many markets increased sharply in both volume and value.
Exports also skyrocketed to some markets such as Germany, the Netherlands, India, and the UAE, rising by 106.7%, 52.1%, 45.7%, and 15.2%, respectively.
Businesses attributed the situation to the continuous increase in pepper prices in the last six months. Currently, the average export price rose by US$1,000 per ton compared to the same period last year. The average export price of black and white pepper was over $4,300 and $6,000 per ton, respectively.
On the other hand, Vietnam imported over 18,000 tonnes of pepper worth $69.6 million in the January – June period, up 18.9% in value compared to the same period last year. Brazil, Cambodia, and Indonesia are the biggest suppliers of pepper for Vietnam.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, Vietnam's pepper production this year is estimated to decrease by 10% compared to last year.
