 Tuesday, July 16,2024

AsemconnectVietnam - On Tuesday, Robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area fell by 400 VND to 127,500–128,100VND per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.

Gia Nghia of Dak Nong provided the maximum price of VND128,100/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND127,500. Robusta coffee decreased to127,500VND per kg in Bao Loc, Di Linh, Lam Ha; to 127,000-128,000VND per kg in Dak Lak; to 128,000-128,100VND per kg in Dak Nong; to 127,900VND per kg in Kon Tum, and to 127,900-128,000VND per kg in Gia Lai.
Vietnam harvested 862,400 tonnes of coffee, valued at over 3 billion USD in the first half of this year, down more than 8% in volume, but up nearly 40% year-on-year.
According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs the six-month rise in coffee export value also sets a new record compared to previous years’ figures.
In early June, the price of Robusta coffee in the domestic market surged compared to the end of May.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said currently, there is insignificant amount of coffee inventory remaining in the domestic market.
Coffee output is forecast to decline by approximately 20% in the upcoming crop year, due to prolonged hot weather causing severe drought in the Central Highlands – the capital of Vietnamese coffee.
The Vietnam Coffee Cocoa Association notes a sharp rise in coffee prices, anticipating a potential decrease in exports but projecting overall turnover growth.
The association expects coffee exports to generate about 4.5-5 billion USD this year.
According to Bloomberg, the supply shortage will push coffee prices to continue to increase until mid-2025. Users in Europe have to spend more money for a cup of coffee because regulations related to coffee imports are increasingly strict.
Demand for robusta coffee in the world, especially in the European Union, is skyrocketing. Many roasters in Europe are speeding up imports to avoid being affected by the European Union's Anti-Deforestation Regulations (EUDR) effective from early January 2025. So overall, the upward momentum of coffee is still very bright. This is a favorable condition for Vietnamese farmers who expect to have good crop prices in the coming months.
