Vietnam Cement Corporation (VICEM) lost up to VND863 billionD in the first 6 months of 2024

AsemconnectVietnam - Of the 6 enterprises under the Ministry of Construction, two are operating at a loss, of which Vietnam Cement Corporation (VICEM) lost up to VND863 billion in the first 6 months of the year.

The Ministry of Construction holds 100% of charter capital/controlling shares in 6 enterprises including: COMA Corporation, VICEM Corporation, Viglacera Corporation, Hancorp Corporation and Lilama Corporation.
In the first 6 months of the year, the business situation of enterprises under the Ministry of Construction encountered difficulties. The reason is that the real estate and construction materials market is still very difficult, the price of materials and fuel is fluctuating, the foreign exchange rate is high, and fierce competition between businesses has had a direct impact affecting the performance of businesses operating in the construction sector, especially construction materials, with moderate production, business losses, and many targets not reaching assigned plans.
Specifically, the total production and business value of enterprises under the Ministry of Construction in the first 6 months of 2024 is estimated to reach VND25,935.38 billion, equal to 94% over the same period and 45% over the 2024 plan; Revenue is estimated at VND24,947.16 billion, equal to 94% over the same period and 47% of the 2024 plan.
Regarding profits, COMA Corporation lost VND2.6 billion, VICEM Corporation lost VND863 billion, Viglacera Corporation profit VND575 billion, Hancorp Corporation profit VND20.1 billion, Lilama Corporation profit VND38.2 billion, HUD Corporation profit is VND205 billion.
Vietnam Cement Corporation (VICEM) is an enterprise managing 10 factories across the country with 16 production lines, capacity of 20 million tons of clinker and 27 million tons of cement per year. Some famous cement factories such as Ha Tien, Bim Son, Hoang Thach, But Son, Hai Phong, Hoang Mai... However, some units of Vicem operate inefficiently.
Previously, the Ministry of Finance announced an inspection of VICEM and its three subsidiaries, Vicem Tam Diep Cement Company Limited, Vicem Hai Phong Cement Company Limited, and Vicem Ha Tien Company Limited.
The inspection content focuses on issues of management, use of capital and assets at enterprises, accounting of revenue, costs and reporting of business results, fulfillment of obligations to the state budget and compliance with regulations. Enforce other financial laws for businesses.
