An Giang province: Over 313 hectares of pangasius farming area in An Giang gets international certification
Friday, July 12,2024AsemconnectVietnam - Currently, An Giang province has over 1,220 hectares for commercial pangasius farming in about 399 establishments.
The pangasius output is estimated at about 600,000 tons per year. The pangasius area linked consumption chain is about 1,072 hectares, accounting for 87.6% of the farming area; the enterprises’ farming area is 778 hectares, 9 intergrated chains and 99 establishments on 294 hectares. There are prominent intergrated enterprises such as: Vinh Hoan Corp, IDI Company, PTFOOD, etc.
According to the An Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, there are over 313 hectares producing 200,000 tons per year that have met international standards such as ASC, BAP, Global GAP and VietGAP, etc, accounting for 25.6% of the pangasius farming area. Of which, over 252 hectares meets ASC, BAP and other certification standards; 61.1 hectares is certified according to VietGAP standard.
An Giang currently has several pangasius farming establishments certified to international standards such as ASC, BAP with an area of over 253 hectares, output reached about 87,000 tons. Many pangasius seed facilities meets BAP and GAP with an area of over 60 hectares and production capacity of about 4,300 fingerlings/year.
