- The export value of Vietnamese coffee to Canada reached over 4.4 million USD in the first quarter of 2024, up 12.2% compared to the same period last year.
Vietnam earned over 32 million USD from exporting coffee to Canada in 2023, the highest level in the 2013 – 2023 period, growing by 220% compared to the time before the two countries joined the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
Vietnam currently holds the most prestigious reputation for coffee among member countries of the Association of Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN) in Canada, capturing approximately a 2% market share. The CPTPP has created significant tariff advantages, enabling Vietnamese coffee to potentially surpass competitive rivals from other ASEAN states, India, and even China.
- Three Vietnamese enterprises have participated in the 2024 World of Coffee 2024 festival, which was organised by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) in Copenhagen, Denmark, from June 27-29. At this largest-ever coffee festival, which saw the participation of around 10,000 people and over 400 businesses from 130 countries, Vietnam’s Detech Coffee, Phuc Sinh, and Tuan Loc showcased their specialty Arabica coffee products from the highland regions of Son La and Lam Dong.
Visiting the Vietnamese stalls, Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi praised the efforts of these companies and noted that Denmark is a relatively large coffee market with a preference for Arabica coffee. However, it is also a demanding market, requiring high standards of quality and food safety and prioritising green-labeled products.
The Vietnamese Embassy and Trade Office in Northern Europe are ready to support domestic firms by providing market information and connecting with partners in the region.
