Exports and imports of animal feed and raw materials in May and first 5 months of 2024

Meanwhile, in the first 5 months of 2024, the country’s imports of animal feed and raw materials reached nearly 2.13 billion USD, an increase of 10% compared to the first 5 months of 2023.

According to the preliminary statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, in the first 5 months of 2024, Vietnam’s exports of animal feed and raw materials reached over 403.71 million USD, down by 5.3% compared to the first 5 months of the year 2023.
In May of 2024 alone, the country’s exports of animal feed and materials reached 92.34 million USD, up by 3.4% compared to April of 2024 and down by 7.1% compared to May of 2023.

China was Vietnam's largest export market for animal feed and raw materials, accounting for 40.2% of the country's total export turnover of animal feed and raw materials. In the first 5 months of 2024, the country’s exports of animal feed and raw materials to this market reached over 162.25 million USD, down by 15.6% compared to the first 5 months of 2023. In May of 2024 alone, the country’s exports to this market reached 41.57 million USD, up by 1.8% compared to April of 2024 but down by 14.2% compared to May of 2023.
The next was the US market with 51.01 million USD, an increase of 100%, accounting for 12.6%; Cambodia reached 47.8 million USD, down by 33.2%, accounting for 11.8%; Malaysia reached 40.54 million USD, down by 5.4%, accounting for 10%.
The largest export of animal feed and raw materials to the Southeast Asian market reached nearly 122.72 million USD, down 13% compared to the first 5 months of 2023, accounting for 30.4% of the total export turnover of animal feed. livestock and raw materials of the whole country.

In the first 5 months of 2024, Vietnam’s imports of animal feed and raw materials reached nearly 2.13 billion USD, an increase of 10% compared to the first 5 months of 2023.
According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s imports of animal feed and raw materials to Vietnam in May of 2024 decreased by 11.5% compared to April of 2024 but increased by 11.9% compared to May of 2023, reaching 441.53 million USD. Overall, in the first 5 months of 2024, the country’s imports of this product group reached nearly 2.13 billion USD, an increase of 10% compared to the first 5 months of 2023.
Import markets for animal feed and raw materials in May and the first 5 months of 2024
The largest imports of animal feed and raw materials is from the Argentine market, accounting for 25.6% of the country's total import turnover of this product group, reaching nearly 545.04 million USD, an increase of 13.8% compared to the first 5 months of 2023. In May of 2024 alone, the figure reached 158.94 million USD, an increase of 9.7% compared to April of 2024 and a sharp increase of 91.9% compared to May of 2023.
The US market ranked second, accounting for 23.2%, reaching 493.68 million USD, a sharp increase of 75.8% over the same period of 2023. In May of 2024 alone, the country’s imports of animal feed and raw materials from this market reached over 68.49 million USD, down by 50% compared to April of 2024 but up by 45.5% compared to May of 2023.
The next was the Brazilian market. In May of 2024, the country’s imports of animal feed and raw materials from Brazil increased sharply by 131.3% compared to April of 2024 and increased by 27.3% compared to May of 2023, reaching nearly 82.48 million USD. In the first 5 months of 2024, the imports from this market increased by 35.6% compared to the first 5 months of 2023; reaching over 313.44 million USD, accounting for 14.8% of total turnover.
The imports of animal feed and raw materials from the Southeast Asian market in the first 5 months of 2024 increased by 38.5% compared to the first 5 months of 2023, reaching nearly 176.86 million USD, accounting for 8.3% while the imports from the EU market decreased sharply by 62.4%, reaching 60.21 million USD, accounting for 2.8%.
