DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices decreased by 1000-2000 VND on June 20, 2024

 Thursday, June 20,2024

AsemconnectVietnam - On Thursday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands decreased by 1000-2000 VND to 156,000 - 160,000 VND per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.

According to preliminary statistics of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, in the first 16 days of June 2024, Vietnam exported 16,211 tonnes of pepper, of which black pepper reached 14,347 tonnes and white pepper reached 1,864 tonnes. Total export turnover reached 77.8 million USD.
The main export enterprises include: Phuc Sinh: 1,890 tonnes; Olam Vietnam: 1,286 tonnes; Haprosimex JSC: 1,277 tonnes; Simexco Dak Lak: 895 tonnes and Pearl: 874 tonnes.
Vietnam imported 1,357 tonnes, valued at 6.6 million USD. Olam is the main importer with 208 tonnes, while Indonesia, Cambodia, and Brazil are the three main pepper suppliers to Vietnam with 596 tonnes, 486 tonnes, and 135 tonnes respectively.
Statistics from the General Department of Customs show that by the end of May 2024, Vietnam had exported nearly 110,000 tonnes of pepper of all kinds, valued at 469 million USD. Compared to the same period last year, pepper exports decreased by 16.8% in volume but increased by 15.4% in value. If not counting inventory carried over from last year, Vietnam still has about 60,000 tonnes of pepper to export in the year's remaining months. The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association further informed that pepper is still available in the market. Still, instead of selling it massively, people are selling it in small doses to wait in the context of the price of this item to increase.
As for businesses, it is difficult to trade and sell. Because the amount of goods sold on the market is not abundant, businesses signed contracts in advance with a fixed price and now the price has increased too high, and they cannot buy the goods.
At the end of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed Lampung (Indonesia) black pepper price increased by 1,396 USD/ton to 7,814 USD/ton; Brazilian black pepper price ASTA 570 is priced at 7,600 USD/ton; Kuching (Malaysia) ASTA black pepper price rose by 34.67% to 7,500 USD/ton. Muntok white pepper price increased by 1,367 USD/ton to 9,744 USD/ton; Malaysian ASTA white pepper price was at 8,800 USD/ton.
Vietnam black pepper price is traded at 7,800 USD/tonne for 500 g/l type; type 550 g/l at 8,000 USD/tonne; White pepper price at 12,000 USD/tonne.
