Vietnam’s imports of raw materials for animal feed production in April and first 4 months of 2024

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, in the first 4 months of 2024, the country's wheat imports reached nearly 2.3 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly 638.37 million USD.

Meanwhile, the imports of corn of all kinds in the first 4 months of 2024 reached over 3.44 million tonnes, worth of over 871.09 million USD
Also in the first 4 months of 2024, the country imported 762,867 tonnes of soybeans, worth of over 407.82 million USD
Vietnam's corn imports in April and the first 4 months of 2024
According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s imports of corn of all kinds in the first 4 months of 2024 reached over 3.44 million tonnes, worth of over 871.09 million USD, the average price 253 USD/tonne, an increase of 22,000 USD/tonne. 5% in volume, but down by 8.4% in turnover and 25.2% in price compared to the first 4 months of 2023.
Of which, in April of 2024 alone, the figure reached 661,615 tonnes, equivalent to 167.93 million USD, the average price was 253.8 USD/tonne, down by 24% in volume and down by 22.2% in turnover compared to February of 2024, but the prices increased by 2.5%. In comparison to April of 2023, it increased by 6.4% in volume, but decreased by 20.8% in turnover and decreased by 25.5% in price.
Vietnam's main corn import markets in the first 4 months of 2024
Brazil was the largest market supplying corn to Vietnam in the first 4 months of 2024, accounting for 43.2% of the total volume and 43.8% of the country's total corn import turnover, reaching 1.49 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly 381.69 million USD, priced at 256.9 USD/tonne, up by 9.8% in volume, but down by 15.6% in turnover and down by 23.1% in price compared to the first 4 months of 2023.
The second largest market was Argentina. In the first 4 months of 2024, the country’s imports of corn from Argentina reached nearly 1.3 million tonnes, equivalent to 316.54 million USD, priced at 243.8 USD/tonne, accounting for 37.7% of the total volume and accounting for 36.3% of the country's total corn import turnover, a sharp increase of 90.2% in volume, an increase of 37.1% in turnover but the price decreased by 27.9% compared to the first 4 months of 2023.
The next was the Laos market with 73,996 tonnes in the first 4 months of 2024, equivalent to 18.56 million USD, priced at 250.8 USD/tonne, accounting for over 2% of the country's total corn import volume and turnover, an increase of 22.5% in volume, but down by 12.1% in turnover and price down by 28.3% over the same period last year.

According to the preliminary statistics figuresof the General Department of Customs, in April of 2024 the country imported 808,186 tonnes of wheat, equivalent to over 221 million USD, the average price was 273.5 USD/tonne, an increase of 72.3% in volume, increased 68.2% in turnover but decreased 2.4% in price compared to March of 2024. In comparison to April of 2023, it also increased by 83.2% in volume, increased by 38.5% in turnover but decreased by 24.4% in price.
Overall, in the first 4 months of 2024, the country's imported wheat volume reached nearly 2.3 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly 638.37 million USD, an increase of 38.9% in volume, an increase of 5.6% in turnover compared to the first 4 months of 2023, the average price reached 277.8 USD/tonne, down by 23.9%.
Vietnam's main wheat import markets in April and the first 4 months of 2024
In April of 2024, Vietnam’s wheat imports from the main market Brazil increased sharply by 35.7% in volume, increased by 33% in turnover but decreased by 1.9% in price compared to March of 2024, reaching 320,373 tonnes, equivalent to equivalent to 78.6 million USD, the price was 245.3 USD/tonne. For all 4 months, wheat imports from the Brazilian market accounted for 41.2% of the total volume and 37.1% of the country's total wheat import turnover, reaching 946,804 tonnes, equivalent to 237.08 million USD, average price was 250.4 USD/tonne, a sharp increase of 261.9% in volume, an increase of 147.4% in turnover but a decrease of 31.6% in price compared to the first 4 months of 2023.
The next was the Australian market, accounting for 21.5% of the total volume and 24.5% of the total turnover, reaching 493,428 tonnes, equivalent to 156.11 million USD, the average price was 316.4 USD/tonne, down by 55.9% in volume, by 60.7% decrease in turnover and by 10.9% decrease in price compared to the first 4 months of 2023.
The Ukrainian market ranked third with 285,875 tonnes, equivalent to 74.25 million USD, priced at 259.7 USD/tonne, accounting for 12.4% of the total volume and 11.6% of the total wheat import turnover of the whole country, a sharp increase of 872.4% in volume, an increase of 658.4% in turnover but a decrease of 22% in price compared to the first 4 months of 2023.
Vietnam's soybean imports in April and the first 4 months of 2024
In the first 4 months of 2024, the country imported 762,867 tonnes of soybeans, worth of over 407.82 million USD, the average price was 534.6 USD/tonne.
According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, soybean imports in April of 2024 reached 222,830 tonnes, equivalent to 111.29 million USD, the average price was 499.4 USD/tonne, an increase of 10.9% in volume and increased turnover by 7.5% compared to March of 2024, but the price decreased by 3.1%. In comparison to April of 2023, it decreased in both volume, turnover and price, with a corresponding decrease of 6.4%, 28.2% and 23.3%.
In the first 4 months of 2024, the whole country imported 762,867 tonnes of soybeans, worth of over 407.82 million USD, average price 534.6 USD/tonne, up by 3.5% in volume but down by 18.7% in turnover and a 21.5% decrease in price compared to the first 4 months of 2023.
Vietnam's main soybean import markets in April and the first 4 months of 2024
Brazilian market was leading the list of the country’s major soybean import markets. In April of 2024 alone, the country’s imports of soybean from Brazil reached 137,390 tonnes, equivalent to 65.55 million USD, the average price was 477 USD/tonne, up by 2.6% in volume but down by 1.2% of turnover compared to March of 2024, and price decreased by 3.7%. In comparison to April of 2023, it decreased in both volume, turnover and price, with a corresponding decrease of 1.7%, 26.2% and 24.9%; Overall, in the first 4 months of 2024, the imports of soybean from this market reached 411,156 tonnes, equivalent to 210.74 million USD, accounting for 53.9% of the total volume and 51.7% of the total soybean import turnover of the whole country.
Soybean imports from the US market - the second largest market in April of 2024 decreased by 15.5% in volume, decreased by 18% in turnover compared to March of 2024 and the price decreased by 3%, reaching 48,482 tonnes, equivalent to equivalent to 25.68 million USD, the average price was 529.6 USD/tonne. In the first 4 months of 2024, the country’s total imports of soybean from this market reached 281,886 tonnes, equivalent to 156.48 million USD, priced at 555 USD/tonne, accounting for 37% of the total volume and 38.4% of total soybean import turnover of the whole country, down by 27.4% in volume, down by 42% in turnover and down by 20% in price over the same period last year.
In addition, soybean imports from the Canadian market in the first 4 months of the year reached 34,055 tonnes, equivalent to over 21.29 million USD, priced at 625 USD/tonne, down by 12% in volume, down by 25.9% in turnover and by 15.8% in price over the same period last year. The imports from the Cambodian market reached 2,997 tonnes, equivalent to 2.17 million USD, priced at 722.9 USD/tonne, a sharp increase of nearly 836.6% in volume, an increase of 762% in turnover but a decrease in price of 8%.
