Vietnam's exports and imports of animal feed in first 4 months of 2024

Meanwhile, in the first 4 months of 2024, the country’s imports of animal feed and raw materials reached nearly 1.69 billion USD, an increase of 9.8% compared to the first 4 months of 2023.
Vietnam's main animal feed export markets in April and the first 4 months of 2024
According to the preliminary statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s export turnover of animal feed in the first 4 months of 2024 reached nearly 311.48 million USD, down by 4.9% compared to the first 4 months of 2023.
In April of 2024 alone, the figure reached 89.28 million USD, an increase of 12.2% compared to March of 2024 but a decrease of 8.9% compared to April of 2023.
Animal feed exports to China - the largest market, in April of 2024 increased by 30.6% compared to March 2024 but decreased by 7.1% compared to April of 2023, reaching over 40.85 million USD. The overall export turnover to this market in the first 4 months of 2024 reached 120.7 million USD, down by 16% compared to the first 4 months of 2023, accounting for 38.8% of the total export turnover of this product group of the whole country.
Meanwhile, the exports of animal feed to the US market - the second largest market increased by 113.2% over the same period last year, reaching 38.62 million USD, accounting for 12.4% of total turnover. In April of 2024 alone, the figure increased by 12.6% compared to March of 2024 and increased by 52% compared to April of 2023, reaching 10.99 million USD.
The Cambodian market ranked third in turnover, reaching 38.4 million USD, down by 31.2% over the same period last year. In April of 2024 alone, animal feed exports to this market decreased by 13.6% compared to March of 2024 and decreased by 45.4% compared to April of 2023, reaching 7.92 million USD.
Animal feed exports to the FTA - RCEP market reached 237.58 million USD, down by 12.9% over the same period last year, accounting for 76.3% of the total turnover. Animal feed exports to the FTA CPTTP market reached 42.99 million USD, up by 2.8%, accounting for 13.8%. Animal feed exports to Southeast Asia market reached 99.86 million USD, down by 10.9%, accounting for 32%.
Vietnam's animal feed import markets in the first 4 months of 2024
According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s imports of animal feed and raw materials to Vietnam in April of 2024 increased by 6.7% compared to March of 2024 and increased by 34.8% compared to April of 2023, reaching 498.82 million USD. Overall, in the first 4 months of 2024, the country’s imports of this product group reached nearly 1.69 billion USD, an increase of 9.8% compared to the first 4 months of 2023.
The largest import market of animal feed and raw materials was the US market, accounting for 25.2% of the country's total import turnover of this product group, reaching nearly 425.39 million USD, an increase of 81.9% compared to the first 4 month of 2023. In April of 2024 alone, the figure reached 137.15 million USD, an increase of 12.6% compared to March of 2024 and an increase of 118.6% compared to April of 2023.
The Argentine market ranked second, accounting for 23%, reaching 388.32 million USD, down by 2% over the same period of 2023. In April of 2024 alone, the imports from this market reached nearly 144.91 million USD, up by 27.2% compared to March of 2024 and up by 282.2% compared to April of 2023.
The next was the Brazilian market. In April of 2024, the country’s imports of animal feed from this market continued to decrease by 7.9% compared to March of 2024 and by 53.3% compared to April of 2023, reaching over 35.66 million USD. In the first 4 months of 2024, the imports from this market increased sharply by 38.9% compared to the first 4 months of 2023; reaching nearly 231.08 million USD, accounting for 13.7% of total turnover.
The imports of animal feed and raw materials from the Southeast Asian market in the first 4 months of 2024 increased by 50.4% compared to the first 4 months of 2023, reaching over 148.54 million USD, accounting for 8.8%. The imports from the EU market decreased sharply by 61.7%, reaching 46.84 million USD, accounting for 2.8%.
