According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the commodity market in April was more vibrant due to many holidays and increased demand for shopping, entertainment and recreation. The supply of goods was guaranteed, and at the same time, goods distribution businesses offer many attractive promotions and discounts to stimulate people's consumption.
The price of some food products were relatively stable thanks to abundant supply, but the price of live pigs has increased slightly. The commodities such as sugar, animal feed, fuels, and energy increase and decrease alternately due to the influence of world prices.
In the first four months of 2024, the country’s total retail sales of consumer goods and services at current prices were estimated to reach 2,062.3 trillion VND, an increase of 8.5% over the same period last year (in the same period of 2023, the figure increased by 13.3%). If excluding the price factor, the figure increased by 5.3% (in the same period of 2023, the figure increased by 8.7%).
Retail sales of goods alone were estimated at 1,594.5 trillion VND, accounting for 77.3% of the total and up by 7.1% over the same period last year (excluding the price factor, which increased by 4.4%).
Of which, the food and food products group increased by 11%; household appliances, tools and equipment increased by 14.9%; garment increased by 10.3%; vehicles (except cars) increased by 0.1%; cultural and educational items increased by 17.8%.
