Exports and imports of animal feed and raw materials in March and first 3 months of 2024
Friday, April 26,2024AsemconnectVietnam - The preliminary statistics figures from the General Department of Customs showed that, in the first 3 months of 2024, Vietnam’s exports of animal feed and raw materials reached nearly 222.27 million USD, down by 3.1% compared to the first 3 months of the year 2023.
Meanwhile, in the first 3 months of 2024, the imports of animal feed and raw materials reached nearly 1.21 billion USD, an increase of 4.2% compared to the first 3 months of 2023.

According to the preliminary statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, in the first 3 months of 2024, Vietnam’s exports of animal feed and raw materials reached nearly 222.27 million USD, down by 3.1% compared to the first 3 months of the year 2023.
In March of 2024 alone, the country’s exports of animal feed and materials reached 79.57 million USD, an increase of 36.7% compared to February of 2024 and a decrease of 23.3% compared to March of 2023.

China was Vietnam's largest export market for animal feed and raw materials, accounting for 35.9% of the country's total export turnover of animal feed and raw materials. In the first 3 months of 2024, the country’s exports of animal feed and raw materials to this market reached over 79.85 million USD, down by 19.9% compared to the first 3 months of 2023. In March of 2024 alone, the country’s exports to this market reached 31.27 million USD, up by 47% compared to February of 2024 but down by 38.2% compared to March of 2023.
The next was the Cambodian market, reaching 30.5 million USD, down by 26%, accounting for 13.7%; Malaysia reached 26.48 million USD, an increase of 15.5%, accounting for 11.9%; the U.S reached 27.67 million USD, a sharp increase of 154%, accounting for 12.5%.
The Southeast Asian market was leading the list of the country’s major export markets of animal feed and materials, with over 71.73 million USD, down by 11.3% compared to the first 3 months of 2023, accounting for 32.3% of the total exports of animal feed and raw materials of the country.

The preliminary statistics figures from the General Department of Customs showed that, Vietnam’s imports of animal feed and raw materials in March of 2024 increased by 37% compared to February of 2024 and increased by 12.6% compared to March of 2023, reaching 467.66 million USD. Overall, in the first 3 months of 2024, the country’s total imports of this product group reached nearly 1.21 billion USD, an increase of 4.2% compared to the first 3 months of 2023.

The largest animal feed and raw material import market was the US market, accounting for 23.8% of the country's total import turnover of this product group, reaching nearly 287.81 million USD, an increase of 68.5% compared the first 3 months of 2023. In March of 2024 alone, the figure reached 121.83 million USD, an increase of 34% compared to February of 2024 and an increase of 168% compared to March of 2023.
The Argentine market ranked second, accounting for 20.1%, reaching 243.4 million USD, down by 32% over the same period of 2023. In March of 2024 alone, the country’s imports of animal feed and materials from this market reached nearly 113.97 million USD, a sharp increase of 284% compared to February of 2024 and an increase of 55.3% compared to March of 2023.
The next was the Brazilian market. In March of 2024, the country’s imports of animal feed and materials from Brazil decreased sharply by 62% compared to February of 2024 and decreased by 28% compared to March of 2023, reaching nearly 38.72 million USD. In the first 3 months of 2024, the country’s imports of animal feed and materials from this market increased sharply by 117.5% compared to the first 3 months of 2023; reaching over 195.73 million USD, accounting for 16.2% of the total turnover.
The imports of animal feed and raw materials from the Southeast Asian market in the first 3 months of 2024 increased by 7.1% compared to the first 3 months of 2023, reaching over 84.82 million USD, accounting for 7% while the imports from the EU market decreased sharply by 64.6%, reaching 32.94 million USD, accounting for 2.7%.
