DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices increased by 1000 VND on April 16, 2024
Tuesday, April 16,2024AsemconnectVietnam - On Tuesday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands increased by 1000 VND to VND90,000 - VND90,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.
The maximum price for pepper fell to VND90,500 per kg in Dac Lac, Dak Nong, Binh Phuoc while in Dong Nai province, the lowest price to VND90,000 per kg and in Ba Ria – Vung Tau.
After a week of continuous decline, domestic pepper prices early this week showed positive signs. Although this year's harvest ended in localities, sales at the end of the season increased, but in reality, the amount of goods sold on the market was not much. Most farmers keep goods amid concerns about medium- and long-term supply shortages.
In addition, concerns that drought in the Central Highlands may affect the next season push pepper prices back up. In early April, the Central Highlands was at the peak of its dry season, and this year's drought is expected to be more severe than usual. Prolonged intense hot weather has caused water levels in rivers, streams, lakes, and dams to decrease and remain lower than average for many years gradually. Amid that context, the market is still waiting for initial assessments from organizations, businesses, and units related to the output of the just-harvested crop. During the harvest process, in many places production decreased, and many places lost crops. Increased output is concentrated in organic growing areas and new, carefully invested pepper gardens. Yields decrease in barren, poorly cared for gardens.
However, the consensus is that the pepper growing area is decreasing, the weather is more extreme and farmers are excited when prices have increased recently.
