Thanh Hoa: Agricultural, forestry and fishery exports have many signs of improvement

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first quarter of 2024, Thanh Hoa province's agricultural, forestry and fishery product export activities showed many signs of improvement, with some product groups achieving high growth over the same period.

According to the latest data from Department of Industry and Trade of Thanh Hoa province, in the first quarter of 2024, local export activities showed signs of recovery compared to the same period. Export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products of Thanh Hoa province in the first quarter of 2024 is estimated to reach 88.915 million USD (up 2.53% over the same period).
Of which, meat export turnover in the first quarter of 2024 is estimated at 1,544,583 USD, (up 3.5% over the same period), output is estimated at 159 tonnes. Main export products are frozen suckling pigs exported to traditional markets such as Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, China, and Thailand.
Forest product export turnover is estimated at 49,309,629 USD (up 17.57% over the same period). Of which, plywood and flooring are 2,492,626 USD (6,235,073 m3); wood chips 46,563,358 USD (254,000 m3); wooden chopsticks, bamboo chopsticks 253,645 USD (14,024 cases). Exported products include: Plywood, flooring, wood chips, wooden chopsticks, bamboo chopsticks. Export markets: China, USA, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Japan.
Seafood export turnover is estimated at 23,901,490 USD (equal to 91.02% over the same period); Of which, official seafood exports reached 11,633,490 USD and unofficial seafood exports reached 12,268,000 USD. Some official export items such as: Fishmeal reached 8,288,951 USD (6,287 tonnes); surimi fish cake 1,414,926 USD (661 tonnes); frozen clams 1,929,612 USD (1,435 tonnes)...
Notably, export value of vegetables and fruits such as canned pineapples and canned mice reached 198,520 tonnes, a sudden increase of 51.1% over the same period. In addition, export value of a number of other major products also increased slightly compared to the same period in 2023.
Talking to a reporter from Industry and Trade Newspaper, a representative of Thanh Hoa Department of Quality Management of Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries said: agricultural products in the province have gradually joined export market, export turnover is increasing and is a driving force to develop agricultural production in the province.
Currently, entire Thanh Hoa province has 43 enterprises specializing in exporting agricultural and handicraft products and export to 20 markets: China, Korea, Japan, Sweden, France, Spain, USA, Australia, Denmark, Netherlands, UK, Germany, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia, Israel, Estonia.
Total export turnover of agricultural products in Thanh Hoa province increases from 143,396,000 USD in 2015 (accounting for 9.25% of the total export turnover of goods in the province) to 270,005,000 USD in 2023 (accounting for 4.9% of total export turnover of the whole province).
The whole province currently has 23 agricultural, forestry and fishery products for export, including OCOP certified products such as: Le Gia fish sauce and shrimp paste exported to Russia, Korea, Taiwan and South Africa; Bamboo straws exported to Switzerland, Sweden, America; Handicrafts and sedge products of Viet Anh Sedge Export Processing and Production Joint Stock Company export directly and sell at 40 supermarkets in the United States; BambooVina Production and Trading Co., Ltd.'s bamboo products have been exported to European countries, Germany, and the US; Canned pineapple and sweet corn Truong Tung has exported to European countries, Russia, Korea, Australia...
According to Thanh Hoa Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Quality Management, some key local export products such as wooden furniture, seafood... are exported to European Union (EU) markets. Canada and the US are expected to be affected by the fighting in the Red Sea region. This leads to increased shipping costs and prolonged delivery/receipt times, causing difficulties for export production activities.
