Long An: In the first quarter of 2024, import-export turnover estimated to reach nearly 3 billion USD

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first quarter of 2024, Long An province's total import-export turnover is estimated to reach nearly 3 billion USD. Out of which, exports reached 1.8 billion USD and imports reached more than 1.1 billion USD. Import-export turnover is estimated at nearly 3 billion USD

Department of Industry and Trade of Long An province has just reported on the industry's performance in the first quarter of 2024.
Accordingly, in the first quarter of 2024, in terms of industry, the province's industrial production index increased by 4.33%. Out of which, processing and manufacturing industry increased by 3.92%; Electricity production and distribution increased by 9.45%; water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment industry increased by 10.73% over the same period last year.
Regarding commercial activities, in the first quarter of 2024, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue are estimated to reach over 24,560 billion VND (up 12.77%). Out of which, retail revenue of goods is estimated at nearly 15,550 billion VND, an increase of 12.87%; Revenue from accommodation, catering and travel services is estimated at over 2,530 billion VND, an increase of 13.50%; Other service revenue is estimated at nearly 6,485 billion VND, up 12.24% over the same period last year.
Also according to Department of Industry and Trade of Long An province, in the first quarter of 2024, the province's total import-export turnover is estimated to reach 2.943 billion USD. Out of which, exports are estimated at 1.8 billion USD, an increase of 18.53%, imports are estimated to reach nearly 1.15 billion USD, an increase of 14.52% over the same period last year.
Accumulated electricity saving data in Long An province until February 2024 is 30.190 million kWh, reaching 2.28% compared to commercial electricity output.
Regarding issue of industrial clusters, currently there are 72 planned industrial clusters in the province. In the first quarter of 2024, there will be no secondary investors leasing new land.
Many important tasks in the second quarter of 2024
According to Department of Industry and Trade of Long An province, in the second quarter of 2024, this unit will carry out a number of important tasks such as implementing strategy to develop the province's rice export market until 2030 under direction of the Provincial People's Committee.
Also in the second quarter of 2024, Department of Industry and Trade of Long An province continues to monitor, inspect, urge and report on investment situation of ongoing industrial clusters, promptly advising the Provincial People's Committee on solutions to overcome difficulties, proposed solutions to accelerate progress of completing industrial clusters in 2024. Review and consider proposals to extend progress of expired industrial clusters. Continue to resolve recommendations of secondary investors in the industrial cluster. Guide investors to carry out necessary procedures to invest in infrastructure of newly approved clusters in planning and carry out food safety inspection in the industry and trade sector.
Regarding electricity, Department of Industry and Trade of Long An province also monitors and checks progress of implementing Provincial Electricity Development Plan for a period of 2016 - 2025 with a view to 2035. At the same time, organizes a seminar to propagate use of electricity. Using energy economically and efficiently, protecting environment and disseminating knowledge, training in preparing greenhouse gas inventory reports. Develop a plan to check investment in building a rooftop solar power system on the factory; Survey to grasp status of investment in providing electricity to households without electricity in the province.
The Department will also submit to the Provincial People's Committee to promulgate a plan to promote domestic production and consumption, boost exports and a plan to develop e-commerce in 2024. Along with that, the Department will prepare to organize a number of realated conferences to connecting supply and demand, connecting logistics in industrial zones and clusters and conferences connecting supply chain of export goods to the province.
