According preliminary statistics from General Department of Customs, footwear exports of all kinds in February earned more than 1.17 billion USD, down 40.3% compared to January. Accumulated in the first 2 months of the year, shoes export of all kinds have earned more than 3.1 billion USD, an increase of 13.8% over the same period.
Currently, Vietnam is ranked 2nd in the world in footwear exports with an estimated export volume accounting for 10% of the world's and present in 150 markets such as the US, EU, China, Japan, UK...
In the first 2 months of the year, although turnover decreased compared to the previous month, bright spot of the footwear industry is that the main export markets all increased imports with a growth rate of over 10%. Specifically, in the first two months of 2024, our country exported the most footwear to the US market with a turnover of 1.1 billion USD, an increase of 25% over the same period last year and accounting for 35%.
Ranked second is the Chinese market with more than 318 million USD, an increase of 11.4% over the same period. Belgium is the third largest market for Vietnamese footwear with more than 191 million USD, up 10% over the same period last year.
According to "Strategy for developing Vietnam's textile, garment and footwear industry to 2030, vision to 2035", Vietnam strives for export turnover of the leather and footwear industry to reach 27 - 28 billion USD by 2025 and reach 38 - 39 billion USD by 2030. Vietnam's footwear exports are forecast to reach a growth rate of 10 - 12%/year in a period of 2022 - 2026. Vietnam is also considered a reputable market in production of various lines, footwear products, especially sports shoes from major brands.
A new trend that is receiving strong attention in global footwear market is environmentally friendly footwear. Realizing importance of environmental protection and social responsibility, Vietnamese consumers are increasingly interested in sustainable products. Footwear products are also not out of the trend. A series of big brands are actively investing in sustainable trend, contributing to boosting consumers' shopping interest. Shoes made from recycled and natural materials are becoming increasingly popular.
To support enterprises to boost exports, in 2024, Ministry of Industry and Trade will carry out large-scale trade promotion activities at national and international level, especially with export industries and fields. Typically the 33rd Vietnam International Trade Fair (Vietnam Expo 2024); International supply chain fair for industrial products in 2024...; At the same time, continue to innovate and deploy diverse forms of trade promotion to support enterprises.
