DAILY: Vietnamese coffee prices rose by 700 VND on March 22, 2024
Friday, March 22,2024AsemconnectVietnam - On Friday, Robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area rose by 700 VND to VND94,300 – VND94,800 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.
Gia Nghia of Dak Nong provided the maximum price of VND94,800/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND94,300/kg. Robusta coffee rose to VND94,300 per kg in Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha; to VND 94,600 per kg - VND94,700 per kg in Dak Lak; to VND94,700 – VND94,800 in Dak Nong; to VND94,600 per kg in Kon Tum, and to VND94,600 – VND94,700 per kg in Gia Lai.
Vietnam exported its first batch of organic coffee beans to Japan on March 19.Vinh Hiep Company Limited in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai officially exported around 40 tonnes of the product to Japan, a demanding market. Thai Nhu Hiep, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Coffee – Cocoa Association (VICOFA) and Director of the Vinh Hiep Company Limited, said that despite their high potential, organic coffee beans in Vietnam account for only around 2% in the world’s output, since many Vietnamese farmers are used to traditional farming methods and use chemical fertilisers.
The company has been working with farmers to enhance the value of coffee crops, and in 2016 it invested to transform 42ha of traditional coffee farms into organic coffee farms that follow US Department of Agriculture (USDA) standards.
