DAILY: Domestic live pig prices rose by 1,000 VND/kg on March 12

Price of live pigs in the North
The price of live pigs in the North increased slightly to 56,000 - 57,000 VND/kg.
In Yen Bai, Nam Dinh, and Ha Nam, it is currently anchored at 57,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg. The remaining localities have no new changes in prices compared to yesterday.
Pig prices in the Central-Central Highlands
In some regions, the price of live pigs in the Central-Central Highlands increased slightly to 55,000 - 57,000 VND/kg. Specifically, after increasing by 1,000 VND/kg, the purchasing price of live pigs in Quang Binh and Nghe An is at 55,000 VND/kg and 56,000 VND/kg, respectively. Live pigs in the remaining localities are traded at unchanged prices.
Pig prices in the South
In the South, the price of live pigs remained unchanged at 56,000 - 59,000 VND/kg. Currently, the lowest trading level in the region is 56,000 VND/kg, recorded in Tra Vinh and Ben Tre provinces. Meanwhile, traders in Kien Giang and Hau Giang purchased live pigs at the highest price in the region of 59,000 VND/kg.
In 2023, Vietnam imported 116 thousand tonnes of pork, accounting for 3% of total domestic pork consumption and an increase of about 1.8% compared to 2022. In addition, Vietnam imported about 122.45 thousand tonnes of pork by-products, an increase of 76.7% compared to 2022.
According to the Department of Livestock estimates, pork production in Vietnam in 2024 is estimated to reach 4.9 million tonnes, an increase of 4% compared to 2023.
