DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices rose by 1000 VND on March 12, 2024
Tuesday, March 12,2024AsemconnectVietnam - On Tuesday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands rose to VND92,500 - VND95,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.
The maximum price for pepper rose to VND95,500 per kg in Dac Lac and Dak Nong while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price to VND92,500 per kg. Farmers in Dong Nai sold pepper for VND92,500 per kilogram, in Binh Phuoc province for VND94,500 per kilogram and Ba Ria – Vung Tau for 95,000 VND.
Last week, domestic pepper prices decreased slightly by 500 VND/kg, due to more abundant supply during the main harvest..
Demand continues to be strong from many different markets such as the US, EU, Asia, Africa, especially for spot shipments.
Domestically, the amount of pepper offered for sale is limited due to the market's downward adjustment last week. Farmers and agents continue to prioritize storing goods. Coffee prices are approaching the price of pepper, so many farmers have sold coffee and bought pepper to increase inventory with the expectation that pepper prices will increase in 2024.
Recorded by VOV, this year Gia Lai province has 8,800 hectares of pepper with the output of this crop is estimated at about 30,000 tonnes. After many years of low prices, this year pepper prices exceeded the mark of 90,000 VND/kg.
Faced with rising pepper prices, local authorities advise people not to massively expand their area, but to persevere in sustainable farming to withstand price fluctuations and epidemics.
At the end of the first trading session of the week, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed Lampung (Indonesia) black pepper price at 3,992 USD/tonne; Brazilian black pepper price ASTA 570 is at 4,400 USD/tonne; Kuching (Malaysia) ASTA black pepper price remained at 4,900 USD/tonne.
Muntok white pepper price 6,179 USD/tonne; Malaysian ASTA white pepper price is still at 7,300 USD/tonne.
