DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices remained unchanged on March 11, 2024
Monday, March 11,2024AsemconnectVietnam - On Monday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at VND92,500 - VND95,000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.
The maximum price for pepper stayed at VND95,000 per kg in Dac Lac and Dak Nong while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price to VND92,500 per kg. Farmers in Dong Nai sold pepper for VND92,500 per kilogram, in BINH PHUOC province for VND94,500 per kilogram and Ba Ria – Vung Tau for 95,000 VND.
As noted by Dak Nong newspaper, at this time, many farmers in this locality are still hesitant to sell because they hope to sell at a higher price. As in the case of Ms. Truong Thi Hanh, Nghia Trung ward, Gia Nghia city, she had more than 100 pepper trees, earning 4 quintals of pepper seeds. According to Ms. Hanh, the price of pepper has increased compared to 2023, but she has not sold it yet because she has not calculated much profit yet.
Mr. Hoang Van Sy, in Dak Sak commune, Dak Mil district, joined a group of 35 households growing clean pepper, with a total area of about 60 hectares. This year, the pepper garden productivity of households in the group is uneven. Some households' output increased, but others decreased. Pepper prices increased, but Mr. Sy remained patient and was not in a hurry to sell.
Dak Nong newspaper quoted Mr. Le Anh Son - Director of Binh Minh Cooperative, Ea Po commune, Cu Jut district, saying that March is the month when Vietnam usually exports the highest pepper of the year. In March 2023, Vietnam exported 36,000 tons of pepper, the highest compared to the remaining months.
If this March 2024, farmers sell about 20,000 or 30,000 tons of pepper, Vietnam's pepper price will certainly increase. President of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association Hoang Thi Lien also assessed that currently, pepper prices are high, but people sell few and there are no buyers. If people buy more, the price goes up. If there are fewer buyers, the price goes down. People need money so they sell. People who don't need money just wait for better prices.
