AsemconnectVietnam - On Friday, Robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area remained unchanged at VND81,900 – VND82,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.

Gia Nghia of Dak Nong provided the maximum price of VND82,500/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND81,900 /kg. Robusta coffee stayed at VND81,900 per kg in Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha; at VND82,300 per kg - VND82,400 per kg in Dak Lak; at VND82,400 – VND 82,500 in Dak Nong; at VND 82,200 per kg in Kon Tum, and at VND 82,200 – VND82,300 per kg in Gia Lai.
Vietnam coffee prices rose this week on higher exporter demand after the Lunar New Year, but some farmers are still holding on to beans in hope for higher prices.
"Demand is high as exporters need beans to fulfil their contracts but beans are too expensive and hard to buy," said a trader based in the coffee belt. The situation may persist until April when Indonesian farmers start to release beans." Another trader said the weather was favourable at the moment for the trees.
Vietnam exported 238,266 metric tons of coffee in January, up 67.4% from a year earlier and 14.8% from the previous month, customs data showed. Revenue reached $726.6 million, up 133.7% from January 2023. As noted by the domestic press, in the early days of Spring, many large and small orders were brought to the world by coffee export businesses with high expectations for 2024. In the early days of February, despite the Tet holiday During the Lunar New Year, businesses are still diligently preparing goods to issue export orders right after Tet.
The Vietnam Cocoa Coffee Association (Vicofa) predicts that 2024 will continue to be a favorable year for coffee exports. This association also stated that although output may decrease, export turnover will increase and is expected to reach about 4.5 - 5 billion USD. To achieve this ambitious target, the Vietnamese coffee industry must intensify efforts to improve the value of coffee through a greater emphasis on deep processing, product line repositioning, and alignment with market trends.
Vietnam’s 2023-2024 crop is likely to be down 10 per cent compared to the previous crop.
