Wednesday, February 21,2024AsemconnectVietnam - On Wednesday, Vietnam’s domestic live pig price increased in many localities, fluctuating between 53,000 - 58,000 VND/kg, according to Kinhtedothi.
Compared to Yesterday, prices decreased slightly in the North but increased slightly in the South and the Central region.
Price of live pigs in the North
In the North, live pig prices decreased sporadically in a few places, fluctuating between 57,000 - 58,000 VND/kg. Accordingly, the price of live pigs in Thai Nguyen and Hanoi decreased by 1,000 VND/kg and the total purchasing price was 57,000 VND/kg. The remaining localities' prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday.
Price of live pigs in the Central - Central Highlands
Pig prices in the Central - Central Highlands region increased sporadically in a few localities, trading in the range of 53,000 - 57,000 VND/kg.
In particular, live pigs in Quang Ngai and Dak Lak are being purchased at a common price of 55,000 VND/kg after increasing by 1,000 VND/kg and 2,000 VND/kg respectively. Traders in Ha Tinh traded live pigs at 56,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg.
Pig prices in the South
In the southern region, the price of live pigs increased the highest by 3,000 VND/kg, fluctuating between 53,000 - 57,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, traders in Long An, Vinh Long, Can Tho, Tien Giang, Tra Vinh, Ben Tre and Soc Trang increased by 1,000 VND/kg, purchasing live pigs in the range of 54,000 - 56,000 VND/kg.
Live pig prices recorded in Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, An Giang and Hau Giang are in the range of 55,000 - 56,000 VND/kg, after increasing by 2,000 VND/kg.
Live pigs in Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Vung Tau and Bac Lieu are being purchased at prices of 56,000 - 57,000 VND/kg, the highest increase of 3,000 VND/kg.
In 2023, Vietnam imported 112.6 thousand tonnes of fresh chilled or frozen pork, worth 279.77 million USD, down 2.1% in volume, but up 11.8% in value over the year 2022.
Vietnam has imported fresh chilled or frozen pork from 30 markets, mainly imported from Russia, accounting for 40.67% of the country's total imports; followed by Brazil accounting for 35.43%; Germany accounts for 5.7%; Canada accounts for 3.01%; The United States accounts for 2.54%.
Except for Russia and the United States, the amount of pork imported from these markets to Vietnam has decreased compared to 2022. In 2023, the market structure providing pork to Vietnam has changed, when the proportion of imports from Russia and the United States increased; while from Brazil, Germany, Canada, and the Netherlands decreased.
