Aviation market in 2024: many advantages and positive signals

Transportation demand is expected to increase by 9.3%
After being heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and its consequences, in 2023, the domestic aviation market has completely recovered and experienced growth compared to the time before the Covid-19 epidemic. The international market is on the path to recovery and comeback.
The aviation market in 2024 is forecast to receive advantages and positive signals from tourism development policies of domestic localities and countries around the world, creating conditions to improve the ability to exploit domestic and international routes. Besides, the fact that Vietnamese and foreign airlines are researching and opening more flight routes is also an opportunity to develop the market.
According to forecasts of the Vietnam Aviation Administration, Vietnam's aviation market is also in the trend of the Asia-Pacific market and will completely recover by the end of 2024. The total transportation demand by air in 2024 is estimated at about 84.2 million passengers, an increase of 15% compared to 2023 and an increase of 6% compared to 2019. Of which, domestic passenger transport will reach about 41.5 million passengers, an increase 3.3% compared to 2023 and an increase of 11% compared to 2019; while the international passenger transport reached about 42.7 million passengers, an increase of 15.8% compared to 2023 and an increase of 6.4% compared to 2019.
The total demand for transporting goods may reach 1.16 million tonnes, an increase of 8.5% compared to 2023 and equal to 92.2% compared to 2019. Of which, the domestic freight transport may reach 210,000 tonnes, an increase of 20% compared to 2023 and equal to 81.8% of the figure of 2019; while the international transport may reach 950,000 tonnes, an increase of 6.1% compared to 2023 and equal to 95% compared to 2019.
The transportation demand of Vietnamese airlines alone is expected to be about 61 million passengers, an increase of 9.3% compared to 2023 and an increase of 10.9% compared to 2019. Of which, domestic passenger transport may reach about 41.5 million arrivals, an increase of 3.3% compared to 2023 and an increase of 11% compared to 2019; while the international passenger transport may reach 19.5 million passengers, an increase of 24.6% compared to 2023 and an increase of 10.6% compared to 2019.
