DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices fell by 500 VND on January 25
Thursday, January 25,2024AsemconnectVietnam - On Thursday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands fell by 500 VND to VND79,500 to VND82,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi,vn.
The maximum price for pepper stayed at VND82,500 per kg in Dac Lac and Dac Nong, while in Dong Nai province, the lowest price at VND79,500 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND82,000 per kilogram, in Gia Lai province for VND80,000 per kilogram, and in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province for VND81,500 per kilogram.
Sources predict that Vietnam's pepper output in 2024 will likely decrease by about 10 - 15% to 160,000 tonnes - 165,000 tonnes. Along with the lowest inventory of all years, the lack of supply from Vietnam will be a factor pushing pepper prices higher this year.
In the first 15 days of January 2024, Vietnam exported 7,616 tonnes of pepper, total export turnover reached 29.9 million USD. Vietnam imported 2,256 tonnes, valued at 7.8 million USD, of which 86% of imports came from Brazil reaching 1,940 tonnes and 9.6% came from Indonesia reaching 216 tonnes.
