Overall, in 2023, amount of imported petroleum reached 10,053,997 tonnes, worth 8.36 billion USD, an increase of 13.2% in volume and a decrease of 6.7% in turnover compared to 2022.
Vietnam imported the most petroleum from Korea in 2023, accounting for more than 38% of total import volume and turnover, reaching 3,920,087 tonnes, worth 3.21 billion USD, an increase of 20.1% in volume and a decrease of 6.08% in turnover compared to the same period in 2022; Out of which, in December 2023 alone, imports increased by 37.2% in volume and 29.4% in turnover compared to November 2023, reaching 225,790 tonnes, worth 174.8 million USD.
The next is Singapore market, accounting for more than 21% of total import volume and turnover in 2023, reaching 2,171,473 tonnes, worth 1.81 billion USD, an increase of 45.6% in volume and an increase of 26.4% in turnover; In December 2023 alone, petroleum imports reached 136,986 tonnes, worth 114.76 million USD, up 23.4% in volume and 22.2% in turnover.
The following is Malaysian market, in 2023, which accounted for more than 18-19% of total import volume and total turnover, increasing by 37.4% in volume and 21.8% in turnover, reaching 1,944,976 tonnes, worth 1.57 billion USD; In December 2023 alone, petroleum import from this market decreased by 41.2% in volume and 49.5% in turnover.
Petroleum imports from Thailand accounted for more than 10% of total volume and total turnover in 2023, reaching 1,007,129 tonnes, worth 857.9 million USD, down by 6.9% in volume and 25.9% in turnover; In December 2023 alone, petroleum import from this market reached 143,966 tonnes, worth 118.4 million USD.
The next is Chinese market, in 2023, which accounted for more than 9-10% of total import volume and turnover, down by 5.4% in volume and down by 15.7% in turnover, reaching 960,617 tonnes, worth 848.400 million USD; In December 2023 alone, petroleum import reached 41,620 tonnes, worth 34.8 million USD, down by 52.6% in volume and 52.6% in turnover.
