Exports to Japan reached more than 23.3 billion USD in 2023

In 2023, export turnover reached 23.3 billion USD, down by 3.8% compared to the previous year.
With a population of more than 126 million people, Japan is a market with big import and consumption demand for products: fish and products processed from fish, shrimp, eel, meat, meat products, soybeans, cereal products, fresh and processed fruits and vegetables, coffee...
Meanwhile, Vietnam is considered a country with strengths in above-mentioned products and has ability to supply well to the Japanese market.
Commodity group having the highest export turnover in 2023 was: Textiles and garments reaching 4.05 billion USD, accounting for 17.4% of export proportion. The next is means of transport and spare parts reaching 2.94 billion USD, an increase of 16%, accounting for 12.6%. the following is group of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts with 2.7 billion USD, accounting for 11.7% of export proportion.
Some products achieved increased export turnover in 2023: Phones of all types and components increased by 12.8%; cashew nuts increased by 10.4%; Cassava and cassava products increased by 476.9%.
Highly appreciating the potential for trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Japan, especially related to agricultural and food products, Vietnam's agricultural and food products are being increasingly accepted by Japanese consumers day by day, according to experts from Japan.
To create a push for Vietnamese agricultural and food products to penetrate deeply into Japanese market, Vietnam Trade Office in Japan recommends that enterprises not only pay attention to quality and price but need to actively strengthen and promote strongly to enhance image and brand of Vietnamese products.
