DAILY: Vietnamese coffee prices fell by 1400 VND on January 19

 Friday, January 19,2024

AsemconnectVietnam - On Friday, Robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area fell by 1400 VND to VND70,400 – VND71,000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.

Gia Nghia of Dak Nong provided the maximum price of VND71,000/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND70,400/kg. Robusta coffee decreased to VND70,400/kg in Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha; to VND70,900 – VND71,000 per kg in Dak Lak; to VND70,900 – VND71,000/kg in Dak Nong; to VND70,900 per kg in Kon Tum, and to VND70,800 – VND70,900 per kg in Gia Lai.
Domestic coffee prices increased from the beginning of the 2023/2024 crop (October 2023) from about 55,000 VND/kg to about 71,000 VND/kg in recent days and doubled last year.
According to experts, it is difficult to predict whether coffee prices will continue to increase or not, but the price is unlikely to continue to increase because this price has reached a threshold. It is forecasted that in 2024, Vietnam's coffee industry will continue to benefit because Robusta coffee prices will remain high, and may even peak due to concerns about supply shortages.
Indonesia is expected to still narrow its export activities; Brazil's coffee supply in the first half of 2024 gradually decreased after massive sales in the second half of 2023. Meanwhile, Vietnam's coffee supply is at its most abundant time of the year when harvesting activities expected to end around the end of January 2024.
